True Lovers Knot Public House in North Dorset

Travelled all day to stop over night and get food when we arrived. Rang 4 times to explain how close we were to still be turned down for food even though we arrived before end of food service, staff was then talking rude about my family not realising i was with them. Cancelled staying there. Had a 10 hour journey there to have my time completely wasted

Arrived at 7:45 and asked to order some food, we were told the kitchen closes at 8 so could put the order in immediately, we were ready very quickly however the staff took a long time to sort themselves out with the till even though there was three of them trying, the landlord appeared very frustrated and kept telling us the kitchen shut at 8. We would have rather just been told it was too late to order however it does seem a unnecessary to be treated so badly considering it was before 8pm and this is hardly an unusual time to expect a pub to serve food. Very poor customer service.

We recently stayed three nights in the campsite and had a great time. Some may say the facilities are only basic but it was exactly as we wanted. The pub food was fantastic and the staff very friendly and cheerful.

Horrible, horrible experience. Owner (male) was extremely drunk when we arrived and was aggressive and abusive (called me a “tw*t” when I tried to talk to him to discuss what had upset him - turns out it was because we ordered food at 7:40 and the kitchen closed at 7:45 which apparently made us “extremely rude”). I am a bit confused and frankly shocked that someone would treat anyone this way, let alone a group of customers. We also witnessed him being abusive to staff members. Not ok. Was supposed to be camping there but did not feel safe.

Do you like good beer? Do you like REALLY good home made pies ? Then this pub is for you. A quintessentially English country pub the locals chatting in one corner and cosy tables at one end for quietly eating and drinking. Thow in a lovely big beer garden AND a kiddies play area (don't forget the camp site!) and this is one to visit !

If you want a hot, relaxed, friendly meal, don’t go here!! I don’t review much and certainly when this account is attached to my business don’t like to be negative to anyone in the industry. However, we paid a second visit here today with my in laws. I’ve been previously and although I wasn’t thrilled with the service the steak had been really good. Today we had to send the food back three times as the pie just wasn’t hot. We got a mixture of responses from then- they were sooo busy, hadn’t we seen how many people they were feeding round the corner, to, well their microwave was very powerful and it came out steaming, to, this time it was probed and definitely hot. But again, the sauce was lovely and hot but the beef itself not heated through. By the time we had struggled through all this, not being believed and being told, well no one had ever complained before, there wasn’t time for me to order something else as kitchen was closing and they’d been very very busy. And she, I presume the owner, would take the two pies off our bill. Yes, we haven’t been able to eat them, that should be a given!! A drink too might have been appreciated or something else as a gesture. A coffee . A biscuit as I was breastfeeding twins too by the way. I could not believe I was having to walk away unfed, my partner having eaten some chips off the plate, my parents in law not very impressed with their meals though told, the veggie burger would definitely be hot, that one ‘was’ cooked- whatever that means! Every conversation was passive aggressive, it’s not easy saying I’m sorry this isn’t good enough and I need you to fix it please. But I didn’t want to get ill from undercooked reheated meat, plus I’m paying for a very rare day out. I’m gutted I still have a sour taste in my mouth about it all, had to spend the rest of my Saturday hungry and very hangry. I’ve had food now, I’ve assessed what happened and with all the pubs /industry struggling I really would recommend going elsewhere.

Great traditional pub with plenty of parking and tasty lunchtime dishes. The staff were more than willing to accommodate our million and one Greyhounds after this months Forever Hounds walk.

A school night visit. Staff were brilliant and helpful, fab food, well presented and value for money. Even the locals are friendly and up for a chin wag.Nice atmosphere which was made even more enjoyable by a local bike group that had a meeting there. Best bit was the pub dog, what an absolute sweetie!Large selection of badger beers and spirits, even the non drinker with us had a good selection of non alcoholic drinks to choose from including a selection of flavoured milkshakes!Now that's a first for us and was one quickly snapped as their choice of drink!Nice one True Lovers!

A good meal and a few pints of larger at a village pub. Prices for food were reasonable, good size and cooked on site. Price for larger was considered expensive to me from the north, but may be less so to a local. Stayed with motorhome on the campsite. Disappointed that opening hours were 12-6 on Sundays, but understand that it being in a village on a school night in winter takings might not justify it. But be warned I lived in a large mining village with 4 pubs in the 2000, when I left there where none in 2017. It was then a taxi fare home from the nearest pub 4 miles away. The first signs of problems was when they started reducing hours.

Met a friend there for a 4 course Christmas meal. Being Vegan I went for the Vegetable Madras main which was delicious. Also the Christmas pudding was the best I've had in a long while.No plant milks available so settled for semi skimmed in my flat white.Would definitely go back again though.Service was prompt and staff friendly
