Bookbarn has had many faces with an ever decreasing number of books available. Whilst there is now a wider choice of media available including LP records and movies the book element is much reduced. The prices in store have also doubled. It used to be a regular stop off but it's less and less these days.

Such an amazing spot. Tonnes of books, some really interesting unique ones too. The cafe is also lovely. There seems to be a good menu with lots of veggie options although I didn't order any food. The staff were also very friendly.

A lovely place to loose yourself in books. Enjoy the Darwin room filled with beautiful old books making you feel like your in a Victorian library! Then enjoy a delicious coffee and cake in the vegan cafe. Then what to do next? Books, records or rugs? So many choices! So here we are back at the bookbarn, more pics, today's quest? Cake or books first? Then where to get comfortable!

You can get lost in here for hours in what seems like endless and secret passages of books. There is also a lovely little area for children full of books of read and play with, and of course a cafe which has great quality cakes and drinks, but a little on the expensive side. Free WiFi too.

We started coming here many many years ago when it was in the adjoining barn and was nothing more than floor to ceiling, wall to wall books, a bibliophiles heaven Even after they moved to the adjoining barn there used to be a vast unsorted section which was absolutely wonderful to browse, you could lose yourself for hours and I discovered some fabulous new authors this way. My daughters used to ask to visit every school holiday and we always left with armfuls of books, literally, I used to have to put a limit on how much they could spend. We used to enthuse about it to anyone who would listen. But we hadn't visited for several years due to life and personal circumstances. My daughter having raved about it, we took my future son-in-law to show him how wonderful it is or should I say WAS, because boy what a disappointment. You now need to know what book and which author you're looking for as there is a very very small section of poorly sorted books to browse, everything else has to be searched for in their database and brought to you by the staff (while you wait in the café) The unsorted section is now not open to the general public and the "barn" that made it the BookBarn is off-limits, you can see into it but can no longer access it. The price per book has doubled for standard books and old books they class as vintage now cost a whopping £4, we left with one book each and a jigsaw. The new upstairs now sells rugs and assorted other tat, I appreciate that these places need to make money, but really considering much of their stock is donated, this is outrageous. They seem more interested in selling books online and stale cake. Their ideal that books are better passed on loved and read by someone new instead of being pulped does nothing to explain the piles of books left out in the rain.We will not be returning. I'd rather buy books from my local charity shop. I gave 1 star because it's impossible to give zero.Sorry for rambling but I am livid that they've destroyed something that was magical.

Not overly impressed with the Book Barn. Limited number of books on view as most are kept in an area closed off to the public. This means you have to ask for a specific book or author as the selection available to browse is extremely limited. It is as if they are only interested in selling online and have killed the joy of wandering around a second-hand book shop. I will not be returning.

Great place to lose yourself for a few hours looking at books from your youth as well as finding missed gems. Comfortable kids section as well and a coffee shop so making an afternoon trip here isn't trouble.Don't go here looking for specific books though, it's all down to luck.

Lovely place for books and old maps. Very dissapointed there was very limited lunch and no cooking (due to staff shortages). Very interesting rug centre upstairs with bags (various), cushion covers, exotic light shades. Worth a look. Will be back soon.

One of the biggest purveyors of second hand (and some new) books in the country.Founded in 2000, it has grown exponentially over the years and now exports internationally.Open (almost) every day of the year and welcomes customers to browse at leisure, shop online, relax at the cafe and for the price of a Waterstones paper back, go home with enough reading material to last them months. From time to time, craft fairs are held within the premises- these are very popular and well attended.Easy free of charge parking.

Have always loved this place. Was a bit of a find a few years ago, and have been back several times. Always managed to grab a few bargains, attached. If you are in any way shape or form a book person, you need to visit!
