The Old Colonial in North Somerset

A lovely atmosphere with lots of people from young to old, music in the background and meals served till late is my type of place and is what I was pleasantly surprised to find in The Old Colonial☺️ Staff efficient & friendly had a lovely Jameson Irish whiskey & ginger beer fever tree mixer to drink & to eat a red pepper soup which was delicious and breaded mushrooms to snack on. I have visited this pub before on visits to Weston & had the best Sunday roast a few weeks ago there & seriously the best Yorkshire pudding I have ever tasted in my life! One of my favourite places to eat & be lately the old colonial is!

I'd highly recommend The Old Colonial for anyone to either visit them for a meal or to stay in the rooms from booking with them. All the staff are very friendly, polite and helpful to any requirements you may need. The double room with sea view I had was very spacious as well as comfortable. The breakfast for those staying with them is excellent, with a choice of full English or vegan breakfast along with the option of continental breakfast, the main meals throughout the day are a good selection of choices for all the family and there's a very good selection of drinks whatever your tipple may be. It's also about a 5 minute walk away from attractions such as The Grand Pier and the town centre.

This is our go to place in Weston. Not busy this time of year and day (early March weekday evening) but even in summer can usually get a place on the terrace. Fairly standard offerings of food and beer, but we've never had a bad meal here and it is reasonably priced. Which is why we like it.

Had a great weekend stay. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming, particularly the lady (Amy?) who checked us in. Bar staff were great too, always up for a chat. We had a very spacious family sized room with an extremely comfy (and massive!) bed and amazing sea view. Breakfast both mornings was excellent and the bar food was good too, we appreciated being able to have a nice easy dinner on the Friday night after a long drive. Will definitely stay at the Old Colonial again, thank you!

Good value food, very similar pub on feel and layout to a large and roomy Wetherspoons. Overall I liked this place and they have the added advantage over Wetherspoons as they are dog friendly!

Well informed staff who were very helpful in every way. Food and drink very reasonably priced and served with a smile. Breakfast was fast and delicious. Bed was comfy and room was clean and warm. Overall a very pleasant stay and would stay here again and also recommend to anyone. Well done and a big thank you to the staff for making me so welcome. 5 stars.

Dated buiding with squeeky floors but quite comforatble bed and clean room and toilet. Our room was overlooking the beach and the Grand Pier. Competitve price with a generous breakfast. Friendly staff and you have the pub below to top up your fluids.

First time visit to the Old Colonial. The staff were VERY friendly, welcoming and helpful. They had decorated the pub for Halloween and the effort was superb.The drinks were good and well priced.I wasn't keen on the food though. My partner has the mixed grill, which he said was lovely. I had the burger.... it was definitely not worth the £12 that was spent on it.The beef patties were horrible, they tasted cheap and rubbery and I couldn't eat them. The chicken fillet wasn't that much better, but was edible. I was Dissapointed in my meal and I definitely wouldn't order any of the burgers again.I gave 3 stars because of the decor and the staff. I hope to visit again and boost it up by trying something else to eat.

Been coming here for decades. Never go anywhere else in WSM. Traditional Pub. Whilst the menu has changed over the years (historically freshly made specials), good standard pub grub. Exterior looks tired but there is life in this pub/restaurant! Lots of seating indoors and out. Dog friendly. Good deals on drinks. Great light lunch menu we enjoyed this visit. Tasty Veggie Soz n Mash. Nice views. Good, friendly service. 😊
