The place was decorated with good quality furnishings and fittings in the 1970's and are somewhat unfashionable but still very good quality, well maintained and scrupulously clean. I turned up without a reservation at 21:00 and was splendidly catered too. The care and presentation of the meals was absolutely top notch.......not your bog standard English pub food here! Wine list is limited but an inexpensive red from Chile turned out to be very good indeed. Very professional and friendly staff. Top quality crisp cotton sheets and a very cosy blanket. All I was missing was my teddy bear. Highly recommended on a main thoroughfare to Cornwall. Thank you.

It might seem a bit old fashioned when u walk in but the room, their customer service and breakfasts are great and if you book in to their restaurant the food is fantastic 👌 and my husband says their cappuccinos are the best ever!

Went to a private function. The room was very nicely decorated and thr food was very tasty. It did appear that there was limited staff so the event was not that smoothly run but this is an independent view and not made by the person booking the event. I am not sure if more staff are usually booked for functions normally. The food was very tasty.

The food was lovely but the decor is a little dated, it's clean and fine for a night or two. The staff were very friendly.

This is a comfortable hotel which provided us with a warm welcome. The restaurant offers a good range of meals. The wine list offers a broad range of good wines. We will come again.

Steady hotel, there's one guy who works his socks off. The hotel is a bit quirky in an old fashioned way so there are some oddities but the huge sausage roll served at lunch were impressive!

The Walnut Tree is a very nice place to meet with people as it is situated right near a motorway junction and is also very popular with locals who use the Walnut Tree bar as a local pub. The hotel has various rooms some of which are set aside as a chalet type apartment. The food and drink are excellent too but slightly over priced but I expect that's because it's such a nice hotel to stay at.

Came here for a business meeting and stayed over the night before. Whilst not the fanciest of places the rooms are clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable but I didn't sleep well but don't let that influence you as I rarely sleep well. We had dinner and the food was superb - I couldn't fault it. The soup starter looked and tasted good. I had lamb rump which was cooked very nicely HOWEVER the creme brulee was amongst the best I've had. I met the chef, who was younger than I expected, and complimented them on great food. The staff were all very good. The only down marking? For some bizarre reason the only eggs at breakfast were scrambled - I usually have poached but not a deal breaker.
