Benbows Chippy in Plymouth

Lovely food. Great portions, always fresh.

Tried Benbows tonight for the first time after being a regular at Francines. I can honestly say that Benbows now have 5 new customers. The service was excellent and they went above and beyond with every question we had regarding their food. As for the food, it was simply delicious. Fish was cooked to perfection, batter was dry and non greasy and when they say large......it is LARGE. Chips were lovely and same again, dry and non greasy. We couldn’t finish the portions we got. The sausages were delicious and the sides were very, very tasty. Spotlessly clean shop too. All in all it was a lovely first time experience in this little gem of a chippy and you can be rest assured we will certainly be back for more. Very impressed 10/10 well done.

Great tasting fish & chips, sides are delicious as well. Good size portions and friendly staff. Extra large fish is well worth the extra.

Well thought I had found a little Gem two weeks ago regular Fish and Chips with shared Curry Sauce. Fish was a Meaty Cod Loin with lovely portion of Chips. This evening because of previous experience went large on Fish. Sadly could not find the Fish amongst all the Greasy Salty Batter and Chips were Cold. All this for £10😮. So disappointed and back to the drawing board. Oh Grease took it's toll and just thrown up🙆🤬 There is nothing vile about my review and you made your stance quite clear so see no point in phoning the shop as you response is quite arrogant.

Lovely friendly and helpful staff and gorgeous food - so far have tried the cod & chips, five bean chilli and chicken curry - all equally delicious, and very big portions.

Couldn't fault the food. Amazing fish and chips and lush curry sauce...the staff were extremely pleasant..Will defo recommend and return

Absolutely fantastic chippy. Not been for about 10 years and it's just as good as I remember. Prawn curry on chips for a fiver is worth every penny. Brilliant staff who are really helpful and friendly! Definitely worth a stop there if in the area.

Friendly service ,good freshly cooked food. Really appreciated by all, including the spicy vegan burger eaters. Good batter on the fish and large portions of everything. Homemade tartare delicious. Very good value for money ,recommend 100%

Thank you ladies for our wonderful food tonight. The chips and chicken curry were delicious! And wow you weren't joking when you said the cheese cake was hotel standard! It was out of the world! Still my favourite chippy by far and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. We will be seeing you again soon hopefully. Xx😊

Well, it has to be said, if you find a very good Fish & Chip shop, stick to it like I do.
