We visited the Grecian Taverna on Saturday 12th March as a party of 13. As usual on a Saturday it was packed and lively with a great atmosphere. It was our first visit since lockdown, although we had frequently visited many times over the years so assumed we would receive the same standard of food and service as we always had, however, on this occasion we were wrong! We were asked to preorder our starters and mains due to being a large party which we all did by looking at the website menu.We waited an hour for our starters, which were delicious, however one of the party had ordered the tuna fish and had confirmed the order twice with the waitress on the evening but when the starter came she was told they no longer do tuna fish so they were giving her fish cake instead. Baring in mind that the tuna fish had been confirmed twice before the service, nobody apologised or asked if there was an alternative preferred, just a fish cake put in front and told that it was instead of tuna!! It was declined out of principle and because of the attitude of the server, if it had been explained earlier that the chosen tuna was no longer available so please select an alternative then that would have been fine, but to be told it was a fait accompli, after twice confirming the order at the table then this was completely unacceptable! So, after the starters we waited another hour for the main courses which were up to the usual high standards and enjoyed, despite the 2 hour wait! Then came time to settle the bill, and things went downhill from there! The meals were all charged at way over the prices advertised on the website, approx £4-£5 more per main. No apology or explanation was offered when we challenged this just told by the head waitress that these were the prices and if we didn’t like it then don’t eat there again! What a disappointing end to the evening! As I said earlier, we have all enjoyed many evenings at the Grecian Taverna in the past but I strongly suspect we will not be enjoying any in the future. The food was excellent, if very delayed, but the attitude of the lady in charge was absolutely appalling and let the whole establishment down! Nobody would have objected to the increased prices if they had been explained but the arrogant attitude was something I have never experienced before anywhere and it ruined a perfectly lovely evening for the whole party. Such a shame, Grecian Taverna has always been the place to go in Plymouth but that is the past and I suspect the future will not be as bright for them!

I come from Newcastle and I went here last night. The food was lovely and lots of it. The staff were brilliant nothing was a bother. The atmosphere was great everyone was enjoying themselves. If you have never been here I highly recommend it. Thank you for a great night xx

I went here on valentines day and was so suprised by how well we were treated! The food was amazing and there was so much food for only around £16pp (several platters ontop of meal ordered). You can tell it was a family run business which explains their attentiveness to each customer. AND AMAZING LIVE MUSIC!!! Such a good experience.Would certainly recommend for couples - maybe not families as the space is quite tight.

Fabulous evening yet again last night at Grecian Taverna. Whenever we come here to eat with friends it is always first class. The food is amazing, the staff are so friendly and so efficient and welcoming. The atmosphere is so good and the music later on in the evening just adds to the whole experience. This is always our first choice for a great evening out. We will be back soon Sarah ❤️❤️

This place is a great little gem we found while staying in the city over the weekend. We made a very last minute group booking after seeing mamma Mia in the theatre and I cannot fault a single thing about our experience. The waitresses were so welcoming and friendly, like we had been going there for years and they went above and beyond to give us a fantastic Greek experience in the heart of Plymouth. The food was delicious and the menu had such a huge variety of food with many Greek favourites. We even did the zorba dance!

Christmas do, only 4 stars as they squeeze in two parties, we were sat near the bar so kept getting bumped, and not much leg room. Food, starter was not very hot, but was tasty. Main meal was same with not enough veg to go around. Staff were cheerful. Other party left before us, so we had music and dancing. A bit more room made all the difference. Would think about going back if we lived in Plymouth.

Food was disappointing, had the lemon chicken, taste was ok-ish but portion size was not! Also mid-meal this place turns in to a disco which I found bizarre but albeit entertaining. Was hard to eat when they turned off the main lights and put on disco lighting though.Staff were good, place is a little cramped and could do with less seating to better use the space.

As a family we eat here quite often. Plenty on the menu to choose from. Happy Staff who make you feel very welcome and regular entertainment. We always have a great time!

Staff are really nice and friendly. It's abit crowded and no not much ventilation in the room but it's in a basement so there's no windows.Food was nice. There's alittle dance floor If you fancy a boogie later on in the evening when the music is put on.Overall it was a good evening out. For my first time there I'd go again 😀.

Amazing food and atmosphere. My 3 course meal went as follows;Starter - TeramasladaMain - Chilli ChickenDesert - Homemade Rolo CheesecakeAll food was extremely tasty and well presented. The waitress serving us made meant my family feel very welcome. The live music that seems to start at 19:30 sets a very nice atmosphere in the restaurant, just the right volume to allow you to have conversations and also enjoy it.
