Plymouth Museum and Art Gallery Cafe in Plymouth

I absolutely loved it here lots, of Naval history and history of pretty much everything to do with ships, but you can expect from a museum that is in a place that was pretty much built by around a dockyard and port.I could have spent hours there.My eldest especially loved all the insects, fish, birds, bones and of course the mammoth which my wife also liked.My baby liked watch the history video that plays at the start of the journey section of the museum.There is a bar/restaurant there, which is ideal for some quick coffee and cake or a full meal.There are also toilets and baby catch facilities, as well as a place to park buggies/prams.Also there is a standard gift shop, right beside it is a lift and arts and crafts area for children.There are two car parks close by, being a level car park behind Charles cross police station and Drake Circus shopping centre.

I visited The Box to see an Art Exhibition Songlines Tracking the Seven Sisters. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would certainly visit again for another event.

Amazing place. Took my kids aged 7, 4 and 1 and all three really enjoyed themselves. Lots of interactive bits for them to try and they enjoyed looking at the displays. Their favourite was by far the large floor with a projection playing on it but the mammoth and skeletons a close second. Was a great way to spend a wet and windy afternoon.

Great museum. Not very hands on for the kids, but they didn't seem to mind too much. Loved the displays.Seven Sisters exhibition was fantastic. Learnt loads. The staff were all attentive and friendly. They engaged with us and with the kids appropriately.Will be back!

Just amazing. Very interesting experience. Plenty things to keep kids entertained. Cafe is very busy, but food was really good. Staff very friendly.

Great afternoon out here, it was free to go in and spent a good couple of hours looking around. Lots of very interesting items. We will definitely be returning

Amazing I've been there first time today and I live in Plymouth! Highly recommend! I will be back for sure!I came with my partner and 2 year old and he was mind blown by some of the attractions.There is a restaurant, very well equipped gift shop, toilets as well as disabled toilet. Staff everywhere in case you need help/advice.Lots of interesting activities for the little visitors to explore too.Very informative and well arranged museum. Absolutely mind blowing compare to the old museum I visited many years ago.Entry is free however I encourage people to make small donations, you can pay cash or card as little as £1-£5. It's totally worth it!There is no parking right outside but close enough.

Went today with my daughter, her partner and 11month old. We loved it. Great exhibits and helpful notices and staff. Good cafe. The figureheads are brilliant. I will be back with my husband soon. The burger was. Chargrilled Cajun Chicken

Excellent space, contemporary architecture meets classical. The exhibits are well curated. The space, lighting and positioning innovative and inspiring. My daughter was fascinated and in awe of the 'Mammoth room' with its full size replica mammoth and the excellent collections of creatures, preserved and displayed wonderfully for all heights and ages to enjoy. The creative station by the shop is absorbing and inviting for all ages. The exhibitions on Plymouth life in history, with computer generated 3D scapes are absorbing. I would suggest at least 3 hours with breaks in between. There is an excellent eatery in house or a whole host of places to grab refreshments right on the doorstep. Being central to the Plymouth College of Art it is a vibrant area with lots to explore. Would highly recommend for a day out. But also to locals around the Tamar, who seek escape and inspiration.

One of the best museums I've been too.And its free.We stayed here looking around for 1hr 40 minutes.So worth it.So much to look through, and honestly would have paid to get in here.If you thinking about travelling to Plymouth or you live there, this is a must see.They also have a restaurant if you choose to eat there.You learn so much history about the area.The photos do not do it justice as there is way more than I have shown.
