(Detailed review below)Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Ambience ⭐⭐⭐⭐Accessibility ⭐⭐⭐⭐Cost ⭐⭐⭐⭐Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Summary ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Food - I am reviewing the farmhouse carvery, but they have a good menu selection also, and they cater for vegetarian people in the carvery (nut roast). There is a choice of (or combination of) two meats - usually Beef & Gammon along with all-you-can-eat vegetables and gravy. The meats are succulent and often melt in your mouth. The roast potatoes are crisp outside and fluffy inside. The gravy is lovely and thick. 5/5Ambience - Due to its popularity, Sundays are sometime crowded and there a waiting time for a table. You cannot book in advance, but the wait is usually quite short, depending on the size of your party. The atmosphere is of an old farmhouse pub and there are no TVs or music. 4/5Accessibility - There is good access with no steps into the bar and restaurant. There is a single step down to the serving area of the carvery, and to the conservatory extension. There is a lovely large garden with playthings for children. Small Holding animals are also in the garden for children to look at. 4/5Cost - The carvery is £6.75 weekdays rising to £9.65 on Sundays, but compared to other carveries in the area, this is very reasonable and good value. 4/5Tips - It is often quieter to go for a carvery during the weekService - The service is excellent. It is a warm and friendly pub/restaurant and the landlady is often around on a Sunday making sure everyone is seated in turn and overseeing the operation. 5/5Summary - The Lyneham Inn is our favourite carvery in the Plymouth area and we happily travel the 11.5 miles each week to visit.

Had a carvary meal on Saturday 12th February 2022. Excellent food with good portions. Staff very friendly. Will be back.

Sunday is carvery only, and everyone always says how good the meat is. The beef at a recent visit was tender and cooked as a joint should be, not like a rare steak! Nut roast for vegetarians is very nice, it seems to have improved from last time we were there and is very tasty. Food wise the only gripe is the vegetables, the roasties are soft, very few with any crisp and the roast parsnips similarly soft. Beans and carrots, yes a tad overdone. Veggie gravy a bit thin.At the time of writing, order is taken at the table but you still go up for your carvery which is served by staff with a gap between customers and staff so no sharing of utensils with other diners. There're also barriers round the bar and with ordering at table, less wandering round, and fewer tables than there used to be so more spaced out where it used to get very crowded.Also re service, waitress was very prompt to the table and didn't have to wait long to go to the carvery. This is a better system than it used to be of queuing up in a crowded space. They should keep this.The website says that table booking is only available on Sunday (not on other days?!) when it is "advisable". It's actually a requirement, we only got one because there'd been a cancellation, but you'll likely be turned away if you take your chances. (I guess what they mean is, on Sunday you can only get a table by booking, but that isn't what it says.) I thought it would be helpful to suggest that they make it clearer, it wasn't a complaint, we genuinely looked and took "advisable" to mean exactly that, but I was contradicted told no, it says you have to book so customer is wrong. When I was talking to the others at the table (not to the maitre d') was interrupted, asked to show them the website so I did, and was told that yes see, it says you have to book (seriously, it doesn't!) and told that they had "very kindly" fit us in as if we were an inconvenience and had been complaining; we weren't and had "very kindly" brought our custom and our money to their establishment. Didn't stay for dessert.

First time back since beginning of covid.If was like we'd never been away, same friendly welcome..... that lovely carvery smell.Missed this place so much, so glad to be back. Great food every time. Even accommodates my youngest who dosent eat meat but loves the carvery.Best carvery in Devon and Cornwall.

We went on a quiet Saturday night for food. Very quick serve and easy to park. We aren't meat eaters and it was good to see they offered a 'nut roast' which tasted better than it looked. The severy is covid compliant (they serve you) which was good to see. You can tell them less or more of the things you like the most ! In all, not bad and reasonably priced. It's fair to say the decor would benefit from an update.

Five of us went for a carvery lunch, all of us really enjoyed the meal, made special by the very friendly and helpful staff. Very good value!

The roast was amazing, tasted like a homemade roast and the flavour is just right. Beef and gammon cooked perfectly melt in your mouth and the veggies are all so tasty. Me and my partner have demolished a full plate of food in 10 minutes! The rustic interior is also warm and welcoming, will definitely be back for another roast.

The roast was very tasty, the bread and butter pudding was like my late Mum's recipe. The staff went out of there way to be helpful. The prices were very good value for money. But not a lover of the nicotine stained beamed ceiling, Or the tatty wallpaper.

We're return customers to this place for their great carvery. Beautiful, melt in the mouth meat with a good choice of vegetables, trimmings and sauces. Beef is not my choice of meat, but theirs is so well done, it's a delight! The lady doing the seating is very helpful, she always knows which tables are becoming available, and is very accommodating.And to show how prepared they are (see picture), an entire gammon and beef joint came out around 7 pm, and they serve till 8.Be happy to return again and again.
