Really disappointed, food wasn’t very nice at all.

Reviewing based on 2nd time ordering from here.1st time I ordered on a quiet night, at the same time I had ordered from another locallish Chinese.Thought we'd try it again on a Saturday during a busier period.Egg fried rice comes in foil and is very bland, same for the chow mein.Chicken balls aren't the best, soft outer coating and the chicken is fairly tasteless and unrecognisable - the sweet & sour sauce taste slightly watered down.Beef curry was different, varied pieces of beef were chewy and the flavour of the sauce reminded me of a curry flavoured Pot Noodle. If you are pretty local it may be your go to, but if you can pick up (which you'd have to here as it's a collection only establishment) - I'd recommend collecting elsewhere, a mile or 2 out would definitely be worth it.

Large portions, piping hot, fresh food and lots of meat used. It's great but the chicken is sliced a bit too thinly, personal preference maybe? I like chunks rather than slices but it's still tasty. The only issue I had is the lack of cutlery. You wouldn't be expected to carry your own cutlery when buying a takeaway, but unfortunately all they had was chopsticks and chip forks. Chopsticks are great and all for the meat and veg but I can't pick up the sauce with them which is the issue. I hope you can get spoons someday

Just had our first shan hai take away and we're really disappointed in the quality of food. The chicken was so hard, I could barely cut it with a knife! The dishes went straight in the bin, I wouldn't even feed it to our dog! We won't be returning.

The worst Chinese food I've ever had. It looked awful, smelled awful and tasted worse. It was my first visit to my new local takeaway and I will never go there again, really disappointed.

Always exceptional food. Great flavours and very fresh. Good value, large menu and excellent service.

Well done Shan Hai. We’ve enjoyed our dinner immensely. We’ve chosen a couple of vegetarian options and the spicy prawns. All was great, hot and yummy.Preparation was super fast and cost was good too.We are recommending you and will be back for more. Also, the young man at the front till was very friendly and helpful and fast.

Will never use again... ever. Disgusting customer service. Got our order wrong so we had to walk down to inform them so we could get what we ordered. Staff were so rude for their mistake and then sent round staff to collect wrong dish when we had gone to bed well after midnight. So ride and found hair in food. What a waste of money and time

Genuinely surprised at the good reviews for this place. I’ve tried it twice now and both times the food has been tasteless and watery. The veg spring rolls were all but empty and and curry sauce tasted like hot spicy water. Only good point is that the man on the counter was nice. The food sucked

Great food, lovely people, there's even tea and coffee while you wait! Excellent!
