The Grasshopper in Poole

We have visited the Grasshopper on many occasions, sometimes when they are busy service has been slow but we have always been apologised to and updated. You can certainly see that there has been a change in management. We booked a table in the library ordered at the bar and sat there for an hour and 40 mins, a starter arrived after about 20 minutes but despite telling the manager we had finished and clearing our own plates no main course arrived. We eventually gave up waiting. When we went to pay for our starter and drinks and expressed our disappointment the manager was very vocal telling us about his staffing problems.. if someone had had the decency to come and explain and apologise for such a delay we would have been happy to wait. The staff in charge appeared to be both unprofessional and disorganised and unable to take responsibility for their failings. We did not have to pay for our starter and drinks but would have preferred an enjoyable evening.

Absolutely fantastic! The food was great, the atmosphere (and setting) was amazing and the staff were nothing short of awesome. We were a party of 8 so damped a range of dishes, all really good quality and well cooked. 👌 would highly recommend.

Sunday lunch. Very disappointing. Slow service. Staff busy and thin on the ground. Sunday roasts all gone at 14:05. Expensive, £60 for 2 people including x4 drinks. Poor value. Food ok but nothing special. Expensive drinks. Will not be revisiting.

I have not been here for a number of years and what a transformation, I didn't recognise the place, they have spent on doing the inside decor and fabric. Our meals were hot and full of flavour, Jake who served our table was very amenable and enjoyed a bit of banter, we will be back again.

Fantastic good, great fire and wonderful decor. Staff friendly and welcoming. Loved every minute of it. Been twice in one week, shall return again as well.

Great place. Extensive menu. Good cocktails. Interesting and huge venue. Good pub grub. Cocktails a plenty.

We ate there today on Boxing Day . I was unhappy at being sat in the bar and not the restaurant, even though I’d booked it 2 months ago . The service was slow and we felt quite neglected by the staff ( hence why I’d rather be in the restaurant) the food is good quality and tasty although we had to wait a long time for it . While we were waiting for our starter, I saw our waiter holding our food and stopping to have a chat with a coworker! Not impressed and we had to wait ages for a staff member to get our bill . In the end we had to go to the bar to ask again for the bill and then go back to the bar to pay as no one came to take a payment .Not the best visit which is a shame as we have enjoyed previous visits!

One of the better Hall and woodhouse pubs in the area. It may not have the view of the old granary in Wareham, however the staff attitude makes up for it. The staff are friendly and promote a welcoming atmosphere in their pub.

Trying local venues, and this one is a must.Great location, even better service.The food was really good.Parking is strange though. Not much and a really, really tight entrance. As we and another vehicle arrived, 3 were leaving and it caused gridlock. For a while I thought it was one-way, but no. The drive is very narrow!There is another park accessible via a different drive though. Will try that one next time!

Very good pub grub, good beer, really pleasant staff and great surroundings, only one criticism some one thinks it’s funny to put the pie on top of the mash and the fish on top of the chips maybe it’s just me!
