"A family friendly pub for the whole community in Hamworthy. Located in the village of Hamworthy on the edge of Poole. A perfect example of a friendly, quality English village pub that we all know and love, we’re dog friendly with a large garden, roaring log fires, flagstone floors and oak beams, it’s cosy in the winter and glorious in the summer."

Highly recommend this pub. I had a wedding party of 35 - 40 people staying at Rockley Park (nearby) and telephoned The Yachtsman with only a days notice to see if they could cater for us on the Friday evening. Upon arrival Jack (one of the barmen) had cornered off a section of the pub for us and had laid out plenty of tables and chairs, some of the pre-ordered food they already had prepared and they were very attentive throughout the evening to my guests. The food was out on time and was to a very good standard, they had a great selection of beers, wines etc. and overall we were a happy bunch. Would definitely visit again.

Oddly quieter than expected on an Easter Monday evening. Our family group were well looked after, good table in the main restaurant, engaging young woman looked after us efficiently and we all enjoyed our respective mains, one pie, one fish, two x ham, egg & chips, all well presented and at a fair price.Good selection of usual Hall & Woodhouse beverages.Good access all areas.Outside space for young & old(er), alike.

Would gladly go back when we first arrived the woman on the bar didn't look to happy or welcoming. But the rest of the staff where fabulous Charlie was a total babe . An made our first meal the best . That lass is a Ray of sunshine to the company . My kids said they would go back just to chat to her again . So thank you Charlie. We had a lovely meal which we all enjoyed

Visiting the area for the weekend and visited everyday over the weekend for a quick drink, although I thought I'd try for Sunday lunch as the reviews were really good and i could bring my 2 cockapoos. I work in the trade and have maybe 2 Sundays off a year so was really looking forward to a fresh roast!.Firstly the options are very limited. Beef or nut roast....the food looked great when I received it. Halfway through I queried that I only got 2 florets or brocoli as the veg? I was told it should've come with a separate side of veggies....these eventually arrived after I'd finished the rest of the meal. I got 1 nice slice of medium beef, melted in my mouth, amazing, but the 2nd half slice slither was 70% rind from the top of the joint.my dogs enjoyed that bit.The menu, and reviews all state about unlimited Yorkshire puddings....not today....1 each and thats its due to their bookings they had coming in. I was a 12pm booking, and they knew how many bookings they had, so why not just make more at the start of the day? To summarise, what i received was OK, but would not dine here again due to massively falling shortnof expectations.

First place we went to in Poole and probably the best.I had the battered fish burger which was really tasty. My son and wife had the bacon burger, all of which were very nice.Food came out piping hot and the staff were very friendly. A great selection of non-alcoholic beers, ciders and even a wine which you don’t see very often!Would definitely recommend, we would have gone back if we had time, and definitely plan on going again next time we are down there visiting!

Lovely roast beef Sunday lunch.... Absolutely fabulous sticky toffee pudding

Hair in my food, two short black hairs, food clearly defrosted and not remotely fresh, poor pricing on the pints which were low quality too. Awkward ordering at the bar but using the app, lady behind the bar was apologetic and as helpful as she could be. Two male staff members using the C word also, i was with a 10 year old child. Appreciate it was Friday evening but really inappropriate language to hear before 9pm. Won’t be coming back ever again after a second bad experience there.

Good ale, food and wine, 2 staff serving gave good friendly service. Lovely pub, toilets sparkling a bonus.

We have been a couple of times recently after a long break. The food was poor in years gone by but it is great now and the staff are so friendly. Brilliant with kids and the kids menu is lovely. Really well done to the new managers, they have turned this place around.

First visit whilst staying in the area. Easily accommodated 8 of us including dogs as pre booked. Good service and helpful friendly staff. Food was good quality however portions could have been slightly larger. The chain bridge in children's play area was taped off as broken which I would expect a pub chain to have contractor repair immediately especially as school summer holidays.Overall good experience and well worth a visit.
