Very poor ,could have done better doing a madras myself.probabley not worried about it as we have so many tourists and don't stay or live here.very poor.phoned up to tell them about the meal but the person on the end of phone wasn't interested. As a local I would not recommend this restaurant as they don't seem to care

I had been looking forward to visiting the Golden bengal for ages as it looks really nice. But my hopes were dashed; the setting and the staff were pleasant, once they got round to serving us.The problem for me was that the food was only OK, or worse. The tarka dahl was flavourless and the rest of the dishes ok.So, three stars means (to me) its ok and I would go back although would rather find somewhere else. Finally, to life the mood some “humour” which has nothing to do with the Golden Bengal. My wife said she could smell an Indian flatbread from a mile away.I said that was naan scents.

The Chicken Ceylon was nothing short of disappointing. Spicy but tasteless.. Peshwari naan was a real let down too. I could have done the whole meal better at home. It seems that nothing has changed but since it’s the only Indian in town they keep trudging on.

Have you read reviews about the food tasting the same? Ignore them. Have you read reviews about the food being served cold? Ignore them. The Golden Bengal is superb. The food is excellent and the menu incredibly varied. No matter what your spice tolerance you will be either satisfied or challenged! One of the best Indian restaurants I have been to, with service to match. Just go.

The food was very tasty, although my dhansak didn't have a single lentil in it and the korai was more like a masala. We still enjoyed it, however, and would eat here again.

If you're staying in swanage would recommend the 20 minute walk to this wonderful place. I don't think I've ever eaten better food in an Asian restaurant. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. Loved it!

After reading the good reviews I was really looking forward to this. Sadly like some others reviews have said, all our dishes lacked flavour and came out semi warm. Most of the dishes tasted exactly the same. The decor and plates are from the 1980s but that adds to the charm, if only the food was better. Could have been vastly better if the food came out hot. Additionally they could hire some staff that smile and at least act as if they are happy that we are there. The owners nephew was the only one that smiled and had any personality, really the 3 stars are for him.

Ordered online, I'm a visitor from London so was shocked there were few curry houses around the area. Just so happens we found a very good one. Food ready on time, polite staff and great tasting food. Thank you

I visited with my girlfriend as we’re staying in hotel near by. The menu was written with no information about a what the dishes are made from without knowing anything about the dishes we choose randomly 2 dishes . For sure the meat used was mutton not lamb as suppose to be and had no flavour at all was like pieces of hard meat in can of tomato purée the best think we’re given an expired mint sauce and when we asked the waiter he said yes it is but it’s not my fault and blamed the whether and when we spoke to the manager he said no wasn’t expired without seeing it or even trying it the reason I gave one star that I can’t give no star. I don’t recommend because you can end up with food poisoning
