I hate to share this, because I absolutely love this place and don't want to make it more popular. But here goes. Probably the best pub in all of England. It has the best cider board (menu) I have ever seen. Special keg is amazing. The atmosphere is great, the menus are amazing and one of the best ribeyes I have ever had. Please don't go there and spoil it.

Not the most swanky place to eat in Swanage but a great honest boozer with good food and great selection of Ale and Cider. The Staff have always been friendly with us and it is a bonus that dogs are allowed in one of the bars.

What a great find this pub was, good menu selection and excellent quality pub grub at really good price.I haven't been inside a traditional english pub for years and it did not disappoint, friendly staff and really good atmosphere, and if you go on a theme night excellent value for money ( meal and drink inc) There was seven in our party , 4 adults and 3 teenage kids. The total bill for us all was just over £100, just cant go wrong

i visited the red lion during a business trip to swanagehad the choice of three cask ales,i chose a pint of "landlord"a classic award winning real ale.the brewer would faint if they saw the way it was poured and presented.within seconds it lost its head and looked lifeless, it was pouredstraight from the cask in a room that appeared not to be chilledthe beer was warm and flat.what a way to treat a great beer.the pub obviously puts a lot of effort into its food offering i wouldsuggest it spends a little more on its ales.

Absolute gem of a pub. Great selection of well kept beers and ciders, fast friendly service and excellent homemade food. It all looked good but their burgers are superb!

Pretty pub, Good food at a reasonable price. Friendly staff. Restaurant is small & dogs not allowed in Restaurant. Parking at rear of pub but narrow entrance (parking on road opposite car park entrance & it's a narrow road).

Great British pub. Had super lunch (again) and certainly the best real ale in the area. Friendly staff and just a great (non gastro) old fashioned pub. Crayfish sandwich was stuffed full, as was the tuna melt.

Had an enjoyable evening meal in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Meal was plentiful. Had what was on the special which was delicious. Had fun trying almost every cider I would recommend the rhubarb.

I used to love this pub, t he food was wonderful and the service great. The beer was always in good condition and the garden space a great place to drink. All this made up for the shall we say rough and ready nature of the building and unpleasant toilets. This year e food has got worse, the service worse and the toilets are disgusting. I have changed from loving to eat there, to avoiding.

This might be one of the best drinking pubs In Dorset! The location is great, just up the high street, inside and out there are great options to sit. It has a good beer menu and the cider selections are probably the best you’ll find in Dorset! If you want to eat a dirty burger or similar during a session then go for it, however if you are looking for more of an eatery then I suggest you look else where! Though enjoy the beer and entertainment!
