Shell Bay Seafood Restaurant in Purbeck

A fabulous place to while away a few hours with friends and family. The food is exceptional as is the service, if you are fish lover then you are in for a real treat. Try to get a window seat as the views of Poole Harbour are something special. Forgot to take photos as we were enjoying ourselves and the food so much. Parking is in the National Trust car park opposite, or you could park in the one closer to Studland and walk up the beach to the restaurant. We will definitely return.

Sumptuous seafood in stunning location with a great vibe. They squeezed us in at the last minute, with kids and dog in tow! And we were so pleased they did. Food and wine were delicious. Kids meals went down well - pasta bolognese and a vegetarian dish. Adults ate seafood - oysters, scallops, mackerel and soup. Puddings were a treat. Will definitely return. We'll be sure to book next time!

We arrived for lunch on a beautiful sunny day and the restaurant had a good vibe and a bit of a buzz. We were shown to a table with a full view of the surrounding water, vessels and wild life, which was so relaxing. The staff are attentive and very helpful. We ordered 3 different fish starters and mains which were all absolutely delicious. The fish was cooked to perfection and the wine nicely chilled. Top marks everyone, you will see us again and again and again.

Friendly attentive service, spectacular view and superb food. Quote simply one of the best restaurants in the BCP area and probably the best fish restaurant. The location is perfect and much more accessible than you might think located just the other (Studland) side of the ferry. We actually caught the open deck bus from Westbourne and made a trip of it. Highly recommended if you want a fantastic fish restaurant, or just a special occasion.

Beautiful food. I had the local lemon sole, others had the lobster and Dorset steak which was all spot on. Acoustics weren't the best in the side part due to a party of 2 tables of 6 who seemed to have something to celebrate, but fine whilst they were eating. Food was faultless as was the service. Well done.

Magnificent food, wonderful service and even on a bleak rainy day a delight to look over the harbour. Creative, well cooked with generous portions and lovely flavours. Would benefit from having an up to date menu online all the same as some of the dishes we’d thought of ordering weren’t there on the day.

I have known this restaurant for many years, and not all of them happily. There have been bumps along the way, but having persevered, I am very pleased that the food, service, and ambiance are now excellent. The views are quite amazing (especially when you get the full sunset show), and the food and service are particularly good too. The full glass windows (as opposed to the much earlier canvas), do give stunning views to all the tables while minimising any wind. The wine list is also admirable, so I will definitely be coming again.
