A really lovely homely pub serving great food by friendly chatty staff. My husband chose Fish and Chips which looked so nice on the plate. I shared a Prawn Cocktail with our son which was absolutely delicious, whitebait and a portion of skin on French Fries. All very tasty and not greasy and I washed mine down with a Red Apple Cider which was crisp and ice cold. It wasn't busy for a Sunday and because it was warm and sunny we chose to sit outside but under an umbrella. Absolutely delightful.

Friendly and buzzy traditional family pub.Took the family for a belated mother's day lunch. Despite arriving early for our booking we were met with a warm welcome and quickly found a clean table. Rachel, our waitress, was friendly and helpful. Making sure we knew what was on the menu, and which beers were on draft. We ordered the kids burgers (3) and got one steak & chips and one adult plant burger. As seems to be the habit of Hall & Woodhouse kitchens, the steak was a little over cooked (medium rare requested). But it was a good cut of meat and perfect portion size. The kids had the sorbet and ice creams that come with the kids meals - they do a good job of looking after the little ones, although there's nothing to entertain them in the beer garden, if you're coming on a sunny day.Total bill for 5, including a few leisurely drinks in the garden, was less than £20. Great value for the food and service.

Personally, I like the atmosphere. Staff was friendly yet not in your face. We were only i the area 4 days but managed to hit the pub 4 times. Had Mother's Sunday lunch. I selected the roast beef dinner and seriously wish I chose something different. Beef was chewy with a lot of grizzle, potatoes seemed quite dry. The yorkshire was splendid. All this did not deter me from returning later in the evening for another pint.

Lovely little pub, tables nicely spaced out. Was a bit chilly inside. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was delicious, I had cheese and onion on a cobb roll with skin-on fries, and chocolate and orange torte. Really good value too.

Visited for the 1st time in a long time due to Covid and we always really enjoyed it previously. This visit was not good at all , apart from the lovely warm fire and the service which was fine , the food was most disappointing. I opted to have 2 starters and a side instead of a main course. The prawn cocktail sauce from a jar was awful and dolloped on the top , no accompanying bread and butter as expected. My hummus and flatbread which was cold was dried and old looking and my broccoli side dish was well over cooked and cold. All in all not a good experience, and we waited a while for it too. My partners burger he said was ok. I hope this was just a blip and that things have not gone downhill as it is one o& our locals.

We arrived just fancying a meal after a nice day out . We asked if we could sit anywhere and was told there was a table round the corner, there was a fair few people in the area. On viewing the menu. Unfortunately it was limited to my partner's requirements. Does not eat onion, leek and a few other items. Mind you may pubs have similar menus so we unfortunately left. Shame there was not more Verity. Must go back and try just the beers next time.

Visited many times and it has been a consistently good pub. Solid wood furniture, low ceilings, local beer, classic pub grub with modern updates (a Korean tofu dish most recently) and friendly staff. Dog friendly and outdoor seating

Had the best meal ever!!!, we were a party of 4 for the Christmas fayre menu. The food ( there was plenty of it )and service were faultless . The pub has been beautifully decorated and was warm and ambient. I would highly recommend 👌.

First time we've visited here.Everything was spot on. Very covid secure with one way system around the pub in place. We sat in the garden at the front of the pub and managed easily to order and pay for food and drinks by scanning the QR code on the table.Food was delicious and service was excellent. Thank you to all concerned. We will definitely return next time we are in the area.
