Tawny's Wine Bar in Purbeck

We dined on a very busy evening, the place was full and apparently running with just two staff which may explain the quality of our experience against the generally good reviews that made us choose to eat here.I ordered the lamb which was overcooked and poorly seasoned to the point that it was mostly inedible. I was offered a replacement dish but time was up and, looking at other people eating the same, they all looked overcooked. Hard to believe they were being prepared to order.My partner had scallops which were very good, and a homemade Mackerel pate which was also good.

Quirky little resturant at which we had a warm welcome and good service. Wine and food were excellent, must mention the scallops and the deserts.

Brilliant food and great atmosphere Would recommend to try

A few reviews mention the fact that this place isn't very modern. We cracked on and booked for dinner anyway and weren't disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious and we really enjoyed the experience. Sure, the interior is a little out dated but we didn't go for the interiors, we went for the food 😁

Fantastic experience, we got lucky that we had an unexpected evening without the kids and hadn’t booked, the service was fantastic very friendly and fast, the food was beautiful, especially the lamb, portion size was very generous and the lamb was cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend and will return on our next trip to swanage

Nice RiojaAnd the following has nothing to do with Tawny’s, but made me smile as I ate (bd recommend) the lasagne.A Macaroni, a Penne and a Spaghetti were drinking wine in a bar one evening. They saw a noodle sitting by himself and discussed inviting him to join them.

It was a bit of a wait for the meal, but it was worth the wait. Beautiful food, lovely wine and very friendly, but discreet service. Highly recommend.

Great night, excellent menu, very good service and turns in to a vinyl only nightclub with awesome lighting on the first Saturday of the month too!
