The Black Swan Inn in Purbeck

Had to book to reserve a seat. Two of us for dinner, starter and main coarse. Very attentive staff, excellent food, large portions and very well priced, second visit. Keep up the good work owners, great job .

Nice little bar. Good sized beer garden with a cover when needed. The food was great quality and very good portion sizes. We had around 14 of us and there were no complaints whatsoever. The pork shank was absolutely delicious, crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. Perfect

It’s a small 'local' pub and slightly out of the way. The food was good, especially for anyone with gluten allergies; there were many options on the menu! It was a shame they had run out of gluten-free fish and chips the night we went, but the sweet potato jerk was nice! Portion sizes are very generous, and the pub was quite busy for a Tuesday evening outside of the school holidays! Book in advance if you can.

Really good food, we all had the Sunday roast. Which was the best pub roast I've had in a long time. Lots of good gluten free options and was nice to be able to have good gravy which was suitable for gluten free.We sat outside in the beer garden, lovely spot and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back.

A lovely little pub with an extensive beer garden, excellent menu and some superb specials, very reasonably priced. This venue is very popular so to eat inside booking is strongly recommended. They served the best muscles I have ever eaten

Small pub, with an amazing reputation, although its been a long time since I ate here.The beer was superb, and the food good; but overall I wasn’t going wow.My vegetables were superb, but the arancini not so much. My partner had a similar opinion with the fishcakes. In both cases OK but not wow.I will return to try again, because its a good pub with a superb reputation.Now, nothing to do with the Black Swan, but made me smile.In chef school, I was given an in depth lesson on cooking young swans.In no time at all my preparation was so good, it became my signet-ure dish.

Small but lovely pub with a vast food menu. Lots of specials to choose from and reasonably priced. It was a cold evening so had a lovely fireplace lit! Staff all friendly and welcoming. Had a small issue with allergies when the food came out - perhaps staff should check every table’s allergies before putting orders through. Other than that the burger was great but the chilli con carne was a bit dry.

Came recommended and we were not disappointed. Five stars throughout. Very speedy and attentative staff with attention to detail and the food was superb. Big portions of quality food at very reasonable prices. We are looking forward to our next meal at The Black Swan and can't praise it enough!

Great pub at the top of Swanage High Street. Our favourite in Swanage with friendly efficient staff. Good menu with daily specials, nice range of draught beers. Book early because it gets full, always a good sign. Nice garden to catch the setting sun.

Lovely pub with a sun trap garden. Roast was pretty good and the beef nice and pink. Though the Yorkshire puds we believe we’re a bit stoggy.Took some time for the food to come out but it was so lovely to sit back and relax it didn’t really impact the food.
