The Fox Inn in Purbeck
Where is The Fox Inn?
🏠 8 West St, Corfe Castle, Wareham BH20 5HD
"Reputed to be the oldest pub in the beautiful village of Corfe Castle, Dorset. The Fox Inn is a delightful sixteenth century family run pub near the centre of the village, steeped in local history. The Inn retains many of the original features and links to the stone industry for which the area is famous. In recent times, The Fox Inn has been sympathetically brought up to date to meet modern expectations without altering its intrinsic charm and atmosphere. The Fox Inn is now a unique child and dog friendly establishment, offering superb food, drink and gardens with stunning views of Corfe Castle and the surrounding hills."

Visiting from Canada and staying in the village for a week. The Fox quickly became our local. Friendly, welcoming staff and cozy atmosphere. Lovely huge garden to dine outside. Great pints & food, fresh and delicious. Best fish & chips! Shout outs to Shaun and Jess who took good care of us 😁 Keep up the great work Brendon! Cheers! 🇨🇦

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere in the place was great, however the food was overpriced with extremely poor quality; this the "Lunch Food"... you can get better pasta in an already made section in a grocery store... Same with the pie, basically a ceramic bowl with some yorkshire ham swimming in cheese. Both were disappointing and priced over 15£ each, price which can get you great food even in London.

We we're in the area and picked this lovely little pub. Food was delicious and reasonably priced, and the staff are very attentive. Will definitely visit again if we are in the area.I would recommend booking a table as it is a busy little pub.

Beautiful Sunday lunch ! We were a party of 4 adults staying in Swanage for the weekend from the isle of wight. Booked the Fox Inn on the strength of the good reviews online. What a good choice ! We all had the roast beef and the taste was delicious, something a little different to the usual roast and best of all HOT plates. Loved it.

Lovely pub with excellent ales and food. The staff are great and were able to fit myself and my young daughter in for dinner at very short notice; they were fantastic with my daughter and made the whole experience very special for her. Dog friendly too, which is always nice to see.

This a lovely pub which is surprisingly wheelchair accessible, both patrons and staff very friendly. Super pretty garden with a great view of the castle.But. I had the vegan pasta option and it literally tasted... wet. That's it. That was the only flavour and texture. Genuinely the worst vegan option I've ever been served, and I've had a few! My fellow patrons with omni food seemed very satisfied with theirs, however. If you're a vegan, eat before you come and just have a side serving of chips, they're pretty good. I wouldn't come again, not even for the pretty view.

Great lunch - adults and kids all loved it. Mix of fish and chips, sandwiches, sausages (proper ones) and more. Lovely (and really long) garden for the kids to enjoy too. Very friendly and quick service, really enjoyed it, will be returning for sure. Want to see the Foxes Den in full flow at the weekend for some amazing burgers we heard about from others there. Thanks to the team there - look out for the very unique view of the castle from the garden if you go…amazing!

The fox in is a traditional English pub that looks dated on the inside but this only adds to its beauty. The garden is fantastic the staff superb and the food immense. I will be back and I recommend anyone in the area to try this place. Thank you for a wonderful evening and compliments to the chef

Very odd lunchtime menu. Upon trying to decide what to order we overheard a woman complaining about her meal only to be echoed by a man on another table. We should have left right then, if not for being starving & on a tight schedule.Very overpriced, London type prices - especially for what you get, & ridiculously small portions. Not sure if the chef is from or thinks he's somewhere in Chelsea. Cheap white bread, few chicken strips & a teaspoon of Coleslaw. 😡Also the bottom of the garden was closed off despite the sign luring people in for " fantastic views" we had a lovely fence.Do yourself a favour, walk abit further into the village & find another place.

So nice to get back to a pub lunch and a great pub ti choose for our first in many months. Social distancing well managed, huge garden, well protected from the wind and sunny aspect, plus great views of the castle. Friendly staff and lovely food. I had the ploughman's. Kofta looked bit dry and no salad with it but other food was great.
