The Quay Inn in Purbeck

Stopped off on our way back from Swanage. It had been a sunny day and we enjoyed a drink outside overlooking the river. Nice location, worth a visit.

Hubby and I visited for lunch this week, with our two dogs.The staff were so friendly and happy and the service was brilliant.The food was simply fantastic, a real treat of a feast!It's not the first time have had lunch there and it won't be our last...we will definately return.Thanks to all the staff.

Check out the back garden, they've done so well with the space. The beers are great here and the food is served in front of a giant fireplace. Very cozy!

Unfortunately experience not to good.Starters just about OK but steak and ale pie was awful, steak in a bowl with a piece of cardboard like puff pastry on top.Both of us left half as we could not finish it.The manager apologised, I think he could see it was not upto their usual standard and offered us both a free drink to make up for it

Thoroughly average. We normally go to the old granary which is outstanding, decided to give the quay a go as the reviews looked good, won’t do that again. Food really needs to be improved drastically and the prices are too high for the quality.

Popped in and had a burger and dirty fries. The burger wasn't quite right. It was like a lump of dry mince, which sounds daft coz it is mince but it just wasn't like a burger. It was bit like when you were a kid and your mother tries to make you a McDonalds. The salad parts were also a bit too much stalk and not enough leaf. The bloke next to me wasn't happy with his burger either and left it. Dirty fries were nice though. The Mrs had surf and turf. She didn't enjoy it much but I finished her steak and thought it was quite nice. Her prawns were a bit tight with only 2 and would've been more appealing without the legs on.Digs are allowed in which was good for us and they enjoyed the burger, they didn't know what I was moaning about.Also, wobbly table, sorted that with a wine menu, and wobbly plates. My plate kept spinning around while I was trying to eat. That was a bit irritating.It's an old pub and should probably stick to proper pub grub on a plate, not all the bits in little dishes.We left there a little miffed we had just paid over £50 for a meal we didn't really enjoy.I think I would try the other places in Wareham first before going back here.Staff were nice and friendly.

In days gone by, the breakfast at The Quay were a guaranteed winner, amazing fried toast of thick, handcut white bread with big chunks of sea salt, great quality beans in a pot which kept them warm and lovely fried mushrooms. My last two experiences consisted of, thin sauce - tangy and not in a good way - sloshed on, cold beans, aneamic mushrooms, fried bread which looks like it was tossed in a deep fat fryer, and, everything else, at a luke warm temperature...to boot, on my previous visit, an egg with a large amount of shell which cut my gums and no offer of a replacement. It seems there has been changes in the kitchen and from what I can tell, they've not been for the better, which is a shame.We've just started breakfast club and have chosen The Quay as the venue, I'm ever hopeful that things will pick up and the quality and *heat* of the food improves, or we may well be searching for an alternate venue.

Great place for a meal, a drink and get together. Situated in a very picturesque place. Good service, excellent food, nice atmosphere.

Went for Steak Night. Food and service were fantastic. Steaks served on sizzling stones, brought to table to finish to your taste. Only drawback is that this method of cooking leaves your clothes really smelling of beef and smoke.
