Great pub and lovely food. The stall were so friendly and as they weren't busy they cooked meals for us that weren't on the menu. For Sunday lunch we had the roast lamb plenty of meat and very tender.. Can't fault the food. We hope to stay in Swanage next year and the Red Lion is the first place we will head to to eat They remembered us from our first visit there and we could sit in the the same place each time. If I could give them 10 stars I would

Welcomed at 18:45 by a rude bartender who said he was just about to call us as we were late though we had an email from them confirming our 7pm booking. We’d pre-ordered our food and it came out overcooked and and can honestly say the only upside was a lovely waitress who was stupidly overworked but still served with a smile. We couldn’t wait to leave.

Very busy when we arrived on a warm evening 16th June all tables outside full and most inside.Staff running backwards and forwards with meals and drinks after a couple minutes we were asked if we had booked. We said no but they quickly found us a small table for two took our drinks order and bought them to us quickly then took our food order ,.A large queue was now forming at front door as people left tables were cleaned and people seated. We didn't wait too long our food arrived looked and tasted great service with a smile too.All staff were very pleasant and great customer service even though they were busy and short staffed .Highly recommend The Red Lion

Traditional old English style pub with a good selection of well kept drinks. Good food menu, and the food is expertly cooked and presented. Also has a large beer garden. The staff are pleasant and very helpful.

A very atmospheric Pub, a very nice bar with lots of colorful drinks. I was there on 2,05,2020 with my fiancée and two friends. It turned out that on that day you had to have a reservation but for the waiter it was not a problem and in a fraction of a second he found us a table. I also recommend Toast with cheese and garlic butter.

I hate to share this, because I absolutely love this place and don't want to make it more popular. But here goes. Probably the best pub in all of England. It has the best cider board (menu) I have ever seen. Special keg is amazing. The atmosphere is great, the menus are amazing and one of the best ribeyes I have ever had. Please don't go there and spoil it.

What a great find this pub was, good menu selection and excellent quality pub grub at really good price.I haven't been inside a traditional english pub for years and it did not disappoint, friendly staff and really good atmosphere, and if you go on a theme night excellent value for money ( meal and drink inc) There was seven in our party , 4 adults and 3 teenage kids. The total bill for us all was just over ÂŁ100, just cant go wrong

i visited the red lion during a business trip to swanagehad the choice of three cask ales,i chose a pint of "landlord"a classic award winning real ale.the brewer would faint if they saw the way it was poured and presented.within seconds it lost its head and looked lifeless, it was pouredstraight from the cask in a room that appeared not to be chilledthe beer was warm and flat.what a way to treat a great beer.the pub obviously puts a lot of effort into its food offering i wouldsuggest it spends a little more on its ales.

Absolute gem of a pub. Great selection of well kept beers and ciders, fast friendly service and excellent homemade food. It all looked good but their burgers are superb!

Great British pub. Had super lunch (again) and certainly the best real ale in the area. Friendly staff and just a great (non gastro) old fashioned pub. Crayfish sandwich was stuffed full, as was the tuna melt.
