Food was cold, chips were hard, hardly any chicken in the chicken burger, was not pleased, very pricey also.. especially for the quality of the food

Visited last night 12th feb .. was very worried reading the reviews about the food…. Well no need to have worried… lovely meal .. staff were very friendly Well worth a visit

We were lured upstairs by the sign outside the chippy saying you could eat your food in there. Nice inside, really friendly guy on the bar, drinks reasonably priced, what more do you want? Would return

First time in this place, tables are not the cleanest. Ordered chicken buger meal and it was so dry I left it, the cod was OK but they forgot the lemon. The steak was OK, thank god for the sauce.When we ordered drinks, I had to show them how to use the machine because they don't print receipts.Staff are very helpful and quick to correct any mistakes, they didn't tell us where to get our cutlery from or condiments.Would I recommend this place? NO

Lovely, friendly staff. Inside was a little run down and soft drinks served from bottles, rather than the taps, but as its coming to the end of season, absolutely understandable. Food was very nice.

Came in weeks ago and was met by the top of the Stairs by a staff member who offered to help us with are pram down the inside stairs and where to find a seat. Drinks where a little bit expensive so only had one but food came quickly and was superb. The manager served the table and was quick and polite the whole time and very polite. Table opposite was a nightmare to him and kept throwing stuff on floor and giving him their dirty plates and he kept his calm the whole time. Will return in future

The food here is shocking; I've had school dinners that are better. You need a chainsaw to cut through the fish- I would hazard a guess that it was frozen fish pieces not fresh Plaice; the salad was predominantly lettuce; and everything else on the plate was cold. You're basically paying £11.50 for a mediocre school dinner.The place is laughable 🤣The kitchen staff are screaming at the bar staff through the door. The whole pub could hear it. The bar staff are so under trained, just staring at each other not knowing what to do first.The glasses are so dirty they look foggy. It was filthy dirty, rusty and sticky.Asked for a white coffee and got two espressos in a cup with milk. Admittedly the barman did say he would try to make one, he wasn't sure how.Unbelievable. I couldn't stop laughing it was so bad! 🤣

Never had a bad meal in here. It is upstairs so be mindful if you have a pram or wheelchair. I don't know if there is a way up for wheelchair's, but I don't think there is.Lovely terrace to sit and eat/drink outside, you can also take you dogs.

Not quite sure what to make of The Place. I have visited several times over the years and always think the same. Firstly the main attraction; the food, is generally very good (rated 4* accordingly).But the service is rather lackluster. The staff smile when speaking etc but it just comes across as insincere. And there are several silly shortcomings; no wifi, no brown sauce for breakfast, butter knife given out for lamb chops, all daft things easily corrected.And as for the sign at the entrance offering to 'nail your kids to the table', I have a sense of humour and it gave me a chuckle. But to some proud parents this might offend and will be interpreted as 'We are dog friendly but NOT kid friendly"
