Nice menu, cater well for gluten free diets &c. I was also impressed by the gin menu!

Pleasant afternoon with good cider, great cake and nice climbing frame for the children! Friendly, welcoming staff too.

·

Nice beer garden and good selection of drinks. Good for a sunny day but there are pubs with better atmosphere nearby for indoor drinking.

An old-fashioned drinkers pub, a proper pub, a little bit tired in places, but a great selection beers , friendly staff, 6 of us all had a meal, it all arrived at the same time, and hot and it tasted great .well done to the serving staff and cook.

Fab - u - lous! Booked for a family gathering of 18 at very short notice. The Anchor staff were very accommodating to all our requests. A varied menu of fresh food that suited everyone in our group, Age 3 - 83 and at a very competitive price. Everyone was very happy with their food choice and it came out quickly and piping hot. All of the staff had very good hospitality skills and were very pleasant. We will definitely return again for our next family gathering. The atmosphere and ambience were great, it was easy to find and had a car park. It was also a bonus that it was open before 12 midday so that anyone who arrived early could come in and use the facilities. I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

A good looking pub, clean, in a nice setting. However, even though we arrived on time, our pre-booked table was not cleared from previous the guests. It then took 50 minutes for our order to be taken despite asking twice to be attended to. One of the meals was no longer available but the attending waitress came to offer alternatives and found out relative information for vegan and vegetarian options. It took a further 30-40 minutes for our food to arrive which was essentially deep fried or microwaved. When the food eventually arrived, we had no cutlery but the waiter did try his best to lighten the mood with jokes about how good he was at his job compared to everyone else. This pub is in a prime position right on the edge of a brand new housing development in Thornbury and I can’t help but think they are sitting on a gold mine. With some basic tips or general direction for the waiting staff, and an improved menu/standard of food then there is no reason this place can’t be one of the best pubs for food and drink in Bristol. Our experience wasn’t at all good, however much I wished it could be or wanted it to be.

Excellent pub food but pub a bit old fashioned for me. If it looked as good inside as it does outside (which is always stunning with flowers) I'd go much more often.
