Good food. £16-19 for a Sunday roast, so fittingly premium for a riverside pub. Big plate, small food. Roast could have done with some more veg. Will try the old lock and Weir next time to compare.

The service from Ben and the team was excellent. Genuine, thoughtful and professional. What a wonderful pub with great food. Brilliant all round. Thanks very much.

Fantastically situated pub/restaurant alongside the river with the most gorgeous views overlooking the forestry behind, the staff have gone to great lengths in making the outdoor seating area just perfect with ambient lighting and a marquee. The staff are always lovely and genuinely friendly and chatty. The indoor seating area is rustic with a lovely wood fire for the winter months. It also attracts a very diverse crowd and not just locals. Food is of a high quality (my only minor criticism is the limited variety of vegan food) other than that - this place is quality.

Food has definitely uped its game since I last been here. I would have given a 5 star but unfortunately I got a hair on my food, I would still recommend coming here as the food was amazing, I can't let a minor slip let this place down,Customer service is greatFood is greatLocation is great especially when the sun's out,

I took my friend for lunch and a drink but I was so so dissapointed when the food comes. The salad on my plate was old leaves, all yellowish. so I called the waiter to change it. and the waiter comesback with a used salad yucky!🤮 you'll see it on the photos disgusting! 🤮

It was a very nice pub and the staff was really nice! It is a lovely area and the views out the windows are beautiful! The food is great and delicious! They are also decent portions too. The only thing that I wasn’t a big fan off was how dogs were aloud inside and some were very loud and interrupting. But everything else was great! You should definitely try it out…

We had a really lovely Sunday lunch here. It's a great spot, especially in nice weather (as it was today). The food was tasty. And the staff were warm & patient. There was a bit of delay for both of our courses, but it didn't detract from the experience as it was really busy, and they were suitably apologetic.

Lovely spot by the river for a Sunday roast. We were surprised to get a table. Perfect after a long stroll! Staff were very accommodating and service was good despite the place being busy. Nice food and a good range of options to choose from 👍

Very cosy and rustic. Love sitting by the fire for a winters evening dinner, or by the water front on a sunny summers day. The roasts here really are one of the best in Bristol. Can't fault it. The wine menu is great, food menu is also great, and we've always had incredible service, especially from Harvey. He always goes above and beyond and is a pleasure to speak to on every visit. Very lucky to have this pub as our local! 🙂

A quick Google for the best roast in Bristol highlighted.... as a must try. So I did and this is what I foundLocationIt's on the outskirts of the city, well to be accurate around a 2 hour walk. We walked it after a heavy Sunday morning breakfast and because its majority alongside the river we really enjoyed the walk! Would reccomend this as on a nice day. As we approached we could see that there is a beer garden directly on the river and the carpark is ample for the pub size. I cannot imagine that getting here is difficult by car and it is very picturesque!InteriorIt's a lovely pub, it's got some nice stuff on the walls and counters to keep your eyes busy. Standard mix match of furniture making each table special and super clean throughout. Toilets were very nice (the hand soap smelt lovely haha). Our table was a bit wobbly so had to put a napkin under one of the legs and it was directly next to the window and in the sun, it was incredibly hot, not really something they can help but it did make it slightly uncomfortableServiceNo complaints with the service, we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table, before drinks orders and mains. The food arrived quickly and the team were able to answer questions about what some of it was (mashed celeriac) as well as getting this northerner another pot of gravy! The only slight complaint I could have was that getting the bill was quite painful, but they were super busy focusing on getting the roasts out.Food/drinkLet's start with a huge issue, the drinks tap was broken so no draught soft drink on a super hot day... such a let down... completely our of their control but it did ruin the experience somewhat. We had the:[ ] Lemon and time half roast chicken - absolutely beautiful, really juicy and a good amount of seasoning on the skin[ ] Pork and sage stuffing - been a whole since I had stuffing, absolutely loved this, a good amount of meat in it[ ] Garlic & thyme roast potatoes - these were massive, almost too big perhaps as they were a little bit crunchy inside. Beautifully crisp on the outside but I prefer a bit of a cloud inside and these were still a little hard.[ ] Roasted carrot and spring greens - pretty standard, the carrot was half a carrot roasted so it had a good sweetness, for me these were staple additions to the plate[ ] Celeriac puree - WHAT IS THIS AND HOW DO I GET MORE? Oh my I remember a friend at uni ate this stuff and it never tasted great however this was the highlight of the plate. Loads of flavour, really smooth and just bloody fantastic, ***googles how to make it at home![ ] Yorkshire pudding and gravy - I am from Yorkshire so I simply have to rate these, especially when the gravy was 50% chicken fat and the Yorkshire was massive. Top job!PriceToby Carvery - £11.99Chequers Inn - £15That's all I am saying here, would you pay 25% more for a meal that is simply 300% better?OverallGoogle smashed it here, the reccomendation was spot on! Have not enjoyed a roast as much as I did this for quite a while. I just wish the drinks had been working and the sun hadn't been so hot burning my face through the window.
