The Codrington at Yate in South Gloucestershire

Friendly staff and good service. Dirty fries were good, the rest was average but enjoyable. Desserts looked great! Nice decor, clean and good space for children or to enjoy the outdoors, in the beer garden at the rear.

Excellent meal. Very efficient staff who coped well despite staff shortages due to covid. Will definitely go back

Had a nice lunch here, fish finger ciabatta with salad, it was quite tasty but disappointing that the fish fingers were minced fish cheap fingers, not fillet flakes fish fingers, which I would expect. Please upgrade your fish fingers. Service was good, quick and polite.

Really enjoyed the food here. It was tasty, generous portions & reasonably priced - we were a group of 6 & everyone enjoyed their meals. Staff were friendly & helpful. Will return when back in the area

We had a phenomenal time as a family, what a beautiful building! Service was outstanding as was the food! (At last my little ones ate a meal without taking an age and without complaint 😂!)We shall be back !

Excellent Meal, accommodating even at Sunday 12:30 lunchtime! We were a party of 5, we all had roasts, Gammon, Turkey and Beef options all enjoyed! Staff were friendly. Our Pug enjoyed his visit too! He promises to be a good boy and greet people in the bar next time we visit. Thanks so much! 3 of the party had travelled from Weston to visit and they thoroughly enjoyed their lunches!!

My daughter and I went there for lunch (dogs are allowed in the garden ) besides benches and parasols, there is also wooden cubicles ( ns ) for people who prefer the shade, we highly recommend, we had very enjoyable roast dinners.

I have to rate this place as honestly as I can and I hate giving places a 1* but I really did feel that the food we had at the Codrington Arms was very poor. My partner and I have both been to the Codrington Arms in the past and we thought we would go there for a spot of dinner as it had some good reviews on here. We arrived at the Codrington about 18:05 and it was practically empty. We were seated in the restaurant area and immediately asked if we would like any drinks to which I ordered a Bloom Strawberry Gin Liquer and tonic (£5.20) and my partner ordered a pint of Doombar (£3.65). We ordered a starter to share of Warm Crusty Bread with Balsamic Dipping Oil (£3) normally we love this as a starter but when this came out and I tasted it I actually thought it was horrible. The bread was just a part-baked baguette which you can pick up for around 40-50p at local supermarkets and the oil was absolutely awful. I had one bite of the bread with the oil and I couldn't eat any more. I have no idea what the oil was, it certainly wasn't Olive Oil and it just tasted like grease, it was honestly horrible. There was a bit of a wait after our starter came out until our mains came out. We both ordered a burger as it was their burger offer which was two burgers for £15. I had the Ellie Burger and my partner had the Paulie Burger with an added breaded chicken breast fillet for £2. When the mains came out it did look nice but again as soon as I tasted the food I was really disappointed. The chips were also horrible, again they just tasted like grease as if they were cooked in really cheap oil and they had just absorbed that. The burger was ok but wasn't brilliant, it just tasted a bit bland and the pulled pork was a bit disappointing. The chicken breast I had in my burger was ok but the one my partner had wasn't a nice piece of chicken at all. Overall the service was good but the food really really let this place down. The best thing about the meal for me was the gin and tonic. We didn't bother with a dessert as we were really unimpressed with the starter and mains. There would have to be a serious improvement in the quality of food if I was to go back to the Codrington Arms again. It's a shame as this is a nice local pub with a spacious garden and restaurant area and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

I visited the Codrington Arms over a year ago and really enjoyed it and the food was good, however this time it was really below par. I have given two stars and not one because the bar staff were friendly and welcoming. The two ladies at front of house were working hard and making punters laugh. I was sat down and I ordered bread and oil to start as a nibble. The bread was a part baked baguette and the oil was served in a warm dish. The oil tasted and had the consistency of cooking oil and there was very little balsamic oil with it. Just enough to cover the serving dish. For mains my partner and I ordered a burger because it was the special offer of two for £15. I ordered the Paulie burger, this is a 6oz beef burger, streaky bacon, stilton cheese and pear chutney. The burger was served in a toasted bun with lettuce and tomato. I added a chicken breast for an additional cost. There was a little wait for the food to arrive but I didn't mind this because the pub did have a nice atmosphere with bar staff being talkative and there was music playing from speakers in the background. The burger arrived and it looked good. The chips were frozen cooked and had been cooked in a cheap oil. They had just soaked the oil up and didn't taste great. The beef burger was okay but there was hardly any pear chutney and stilton which was disappointing. The chicken breast was poor and had blood vessels all in it....I don't know if the chef was having a bad day or even turned up for work that day.... This was a disappointing meal and the food really let this place down. It is a shame because this is local to me, that is dog friendly, it has a large bear garden and a bowls court.
