A lovely place to eat. The food was fresh, hot and well prepared. The prices are very competitive. I could have used a few more mushrooms as the starter, but I eat a lot and am not complaining for price. Main course more than made up for it, superb chicken and gammon in the Hunter's Chicken. Plenty of parking, good restaurant space and excellent service. Highly recommended.

Relaxed atmosphere, visited on a quiet day. We ordered vegan fish & chips, the batter seemed undercooked and the “fish” really watery and salty. Servers polite and friendly, good quality for the price overall.

Waitress this morning gave great service. 😉 Had a lovely breakfast even though I reserved the breakfast at the Compass Inn! Food was nice also...

Very nice pub /hotel. Extensive menu with a lot of choice at reasonable prices. Food was very nice and plenty of it. Very polite, professional staff with very good communication and customer skills. Plenty of room in the car park which is free. Well worth a try for a meet up with friends e family.

We booked a superior room on Friday night, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The room however was a little tired looking. The Evening meal was nice, the veg however was overdone!Breakfast was a different story! Very unfriendly staff, no service at all!! No hot water to make your own tea, plus a jug of cold coffee! When I asked why the toaster wasn't working was told to read the notice on the wall!! The unfriendly lady then continued to have a heated discussion/argument, with another lady about shifts!! Very unprofessional. So we ate breakfast with bread and butter and no hot drink. Very disappointing as we live not far away and were hoping to come more often!A smile and good morning may have also been nice.

We enjoyed a couple of nights at this hotel and were very pleased. The bedroom was clean, comfortable and looked newly decorated. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and the food was very nice with plenty of choice. The staff were very friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble.

We visited the Cross hands today for an early tea we had to wait at least five minutes for the girl to appear she was very pleasant ordered our food and paid didn't take long for food to arrive but we were the only people in there,my meal was missing mushy peas but there was no one to tell so I headed for the kitchen but no one in there also all out the back not sure why so sat back down eventually the girl came back to the bar I then asked her for peas she said sorry and disappeared, then I had to look for a dessert spoon for my grandson as again no one around we ate and left and still no one anywhere to say thankyou and goodbye disgraceful.

Only stayed here twice, staff are very pleasant and helpful. Rooms are a bit too warm for my liking but this is just my preference. Food here is amazing I had the chicken in a basket and it was delicious, my friend has had the riddles ale pie both times we have stayed here and would definitely recommend that. Overall a pleasant stay.Thankyou

Just stopped in for a quick drink and snack - good choice at the bar and the chips went down a treat. Nice and easy to get to - plenty of parking and nice cosy country pub feel.

Spent the weekend at this hotel. The room was spacious and clean. We had two evening meals and both were delicious, only down point was we felt we were not given any time in between courses. Main meals arrived immediately after the starter was cleared.Breakfast again was delicious with plenty of choice and staff were very friendly. We will happily return
