The worst service ever. Staff took 15 minutes to come and take my order. I ordered a cup of tea and a teacake. The teacake arrived after another ten minutes, but no tea. I thought it would arrive shortly so didn't chase up. Eventually I went to pay and was ignored for five minutes whilst the girl fiddled about on the till. Rude. I explained that the tea didn't arrive and just paid for the teacake. No apology from the girl, she was surly and quite dismissive. Because of this I asked to see the manager, who also made me wait another ten minutes before bothering to speak with me. Awful. I won't be returning

I was expecting some more "meat options" on the menu. The omelette was creamy and tasty. Same as the salad (it wasn't a boring salad at all I really liked it)My partner asked the burger. Good meat and bread. Tasty chips but not fresh (a bit disappointing)Lovely place with lovely views anyway.

The Farmers Table is an award winning farm shop and Cafe just off junction 14 of the M5. Opened in 2003 by a local farming family as a way of selling their Beef which is locally reared in Charfield. The Cafe was added in 2012 to showcase their produce though they also sell a large range of cakes which on the day we visited, looked fantastic. The menu offered a selection of breakfast options all featuring local produce so two of us went for the 'Farmers Full English' at £9.25 which is a bit expensive, so my expectations were high.My brother in law went for the slightly smaller Stock man's Breakfast £6.95 but added extra toast on the side at £2.15.Surprisingly at these prices the drinks were extra but I cant find the prices on their menu?My Full English came with:One home made Pork sausage that I really liked but it had meat in it, and that meant a certain amount of texture which I know some people just don't like in their sausages. Two slice's of really tasty 'smoked Bacon' that was probably as good as I've had in a long while.Absolutely delicious. The Single Fried egg cold have done with a partner, it looked a bit lost and lonely though it was nicely cooked and a lovely colour. There was one tomato halved and lightly grilled, which I could have done without.Grilled tomatoes are not my favourite breakfast item, I can take them or leave them but if they are served they should be cooked right through and have some nice scorch marks on the skin.Sadly the juice from the tomato mixed with the liquor from the mushrooms and the sauce from the 'Heinz' baked beans making the Granary Toast (served on the same plate) very soggy. This was very disappointing. However, the 'Stornaway Black Pudding' was unbelievably good.In fact it is probably 'the best black pudding I've ever had' and I eat a lot of it in Spain. Turre, the next village to where we live is famous for its Black Pudding so its used a lot in all the local restaurants and Cafes. The Stock man's came with a good sized portion of crispy Hash Brown and two large slices of fried bread (replacing the toast) an egg plus a generous portion of beans and given it didn't have mushrooms or Tomato it looked cleaner and a far more attractive option. There was a choice of white toast or granary and the pot of tea for one was enough for two good strong cups.Salt and Pepper was on the table but unfortunately the sauce came in small sachets which are always difficult to open and make a mess when they are discarded. Why not have a pot to put the used sachets in?We chose to sit indoors whilst we ate but we took our tea and coffee out on to the sunny terrace where the view across the country side to Wootton under Edge was breath taking. There were lots of people doing the same. All the tables outside were taken and there wasn't much space indoors either. The cakes and scones were selling, well, like hot cakes. This is a great place to bring your Mum or an elderly relative. It is clean and practical. It's a safe choice where you can get some thing that resembles a full English without having to battle a cholesterol laden menu surrounded by Lorry drivers. This is much more genteel and as a result, you pay a premium. But you get a view to die for.I was disappointed with my meal, not with the individual ingredients, or the way it was cooked, but with the presentation. At these price's they should at least provide a side plate for the toast, then it wouldn't get soggy. And if you are going to serve a grilled tomato, grill it properly.Mushrooms, fresh and lightly cooked in butter are amazing.Cooked to a black Pap, they are tasteless and very unattractive.Such a pity but if you are charging top prices you raise expectations and you need to deliver. On this occasion they didn't though it wouldn't take much to make this one of the great breakfast venues.
