A good place to let the little ones play while the adults relax over a drink and food

Very rude. Was out celebrating a Birthday meal. All of a sudden a big group of people came in, and it felt very cramped. None of us felt safe with the amount of people due to Covid. Then to make matters worse, we had a television above us, that wasn't on. But then someone from the other group asked a member of staff to put it on. As we sat there eating, nearly the whole other group was sat there staring at the screen, but it felt as if we were being watched as well, which put off our 6 year old from eating. We weren't even asked if it was alright to put the TV on, and there was 3 other televisions on at the time. So they could have been informed to watch football on one of those instead. So not happy at all as this ruined my wife's Birthday meal.

My wife came here last week with our 2 children and her sister, they had a great time and nice food. My son got really upset because my wife didn't have any change for the machines, the pregnant lady on the bar gave the children some money for them though and my wife was so grateful and really couldn't believe the kindness of your staff member, unfortunately she didn't get her name, but it was such a wonderful thing to do so thank you.

I have been to the Mill House a couple of times whilst visiting friends in the area. The food is traditional pub grub and the service is good. One barmaid in particular stands out and that is Cliona who is particularly friendly. If there is one minor issue, it is that the toilets are in need of updating as they look quite tired and dated. However, all in all a nice community pub and restaurant in a nice urban village setting.

Have not been here for a few years, pleasantly surprised, it has been re-furbished nicely. The staff are very pleasant and helpful, Cliona served me on the bar and gave me a review card with hers and Donna's name on it. will definitely be going back. A well deserved 5 stars.

Visited today with my grandchildren, we had an hour in the play area and then after we had some lunch. I was served by a lovely lady called Cleona who was friendly and even offered me a free starter or dessert with my roast lunch, such great value. I went up for some more drinks and to order the kids desserts and was served by another girl who was also lovely with a fringe. My only negative on my experience is the toilets, they weren't very nice at all.

Called for a meal two weeks ago, without the grandchildren on this occasion. Was served by Cliona who was bubbly and a pleasure to chat to. Food was fresh & piping hot and she made excellent advice to us from the menu. Will be back another time.

Poor hospitality from staff. We went there last Sunday, the staff were all chatting by themselves whilst I was stood there waiting for them to see me to point out (literally!!!) our table. I was not ushered to our table 😂! Pub food not allowed in the softplay children’s area but you can order a cake or drink so either you waste half of your time by leaving the softplay early or you have hungry toddlers screaming for softplay whilst waiting for food (either way). When food has arrived, it was all set up on the table, we have to keep chasing the staff for bits and little things the kids needs like ketchup, teaspoon or kid’s cutlery (they don’t have) for my under 2 and 4 years old. Staff appears to be rushing away from us (we are Filipino grandparents with our granddaughters). The man managing the softplay looks very stressed although there’s not much children in there likely 5 or 6 including mine. Even the pub has lots of empty tables too at lunchtime. Food tastes good but already warm or just nearing cold when we were called in. This is totally different experience from Longwell Green branch. Longwell Green staff were very friendly and accommodating, pub and softplay were busy but they were serving with smiles. The only time I had seen the staff smiles at Mill House was when they were chatting at one another and laughing at each other’s company. It’s good to have fun at work, it would be better if they can extend it to service users, that would be nice vibe. The good thing about the place was, it wasn’t crowded, minimal children playing and minimal people gathering which is Covid secure. So I might come back for food and security, otherwise I might stick in Longwell Green.

Staying to visit family so booked in. Saw on the news that some sites had closed but Google said it was open and I hadn't had an email to say my reservation was canceled. Got here and sign on the door saying closed. Thanks for the email. Had a Domino's instead and used your Bench's. Sad times. Next time maybe send an email to your potential custom income. I won't be back from that lack of focus.

A lovely local pub, friendly staff and good selection of food and drinks. It is good for all the family and has a Wacky Warehouse for the kids to enjoy - great fun! The selection of alcoholic beverages are good and a decent selection of gins that some other local pubs don’t stock. It has a 18s only area and the food is of a high quality and tasty. I would recommend going to The Mill House for a quiet drink during the week or a nice meal with family and friends. On an evening it can get more lively but it just adds to the great atmosphere. The Mill House is always clean and the toilets are in a good condition.
