Apparently the pub is under new management so we were nervous when we booked Sunday lunch. We didn’t need to worry one bit the Sunday lunch was as fantastic as ever. The pulled lamb special was delicious. Can’t wait to come back again. Super friendly staff too and always allergen aware.

OK but I thought the food was presented to be more than it was a little lacking for price good pub and staff

I needed a room for myself to stay near newport so i could watch my daughters gymnastics comp. Unfortunately the room that my wife abd daughter had at a differeny location didnt have the room for another adult as we had booked seperately and i was unable at the the time to attend. I checked in but didnt really get a chance to look at the room as i needed to go and meet my family. If i had i would have demanded a refund! I didnt get back to my room until 10pm.The room was absolutely dire and dirty. Was supposed to be a deluxe room, there was nothing deluxe about it! Should have known that for ÂŁ45 it wouldn't be any good! There were uneven and lifted tiles in the bathroom. It was cold and the radiator in the room was unable to be turned on by the occupant. The windows let in a draft despite being cold. The remote for the TV only had one battery so was unable to use it. I would never stay again!

We came for Sunday lunch , we had starter salmon which was high end and had the freshest taste. The scotch egg starter was also light and tasty, not to heavy and definitely tasted homemade! The roast dinner was amazing, tasted of quality and all seasoned to perfection! …we decided we had to have pudding, just in case we were missing out! Quality of food , service, speed and environment 10/10!!! We’ll be back :)

Didn’t stay, just Sunday lunch. It was high end price for low quality food. £19 +10% service charge for roast lamb! £12 for a small tasteless portion of linguine. Very disappointed. However staff friendly & service efficient.

·

Very disappointing after recommending to friends after many great visits. Inedible fillet steak which i complained about but nothing done brought home and fed to the dog. Service also very slow despite a 5.30pm booking. Hope this isn't going to become the norm

The website states there is breakfast included, breakfast apparently ISN’T included. The bathroom looks like it hasn’t been cleaned since the 70s! Mould all round the bath and sink. The floorboards in the room above us made so much noise that when someone walked around you couldn’t hear the TV. In fact they kept us awake all night! And finally, the mugs in the room weren’t clean either.

Lovely meal. The lamb was so tender. Roast potatoes were hard rather than crispy but lovely selection of veg. The staff were very pleasant. Would go again.

The Sunday roast was delicious with great meat on offer. We had the lamb and beef and it was very edible. Not chewy. Great option to allow more veg if requested. We had desserts and they finished the meal off nicely. It was pricey but I was happy to pay as the quality was there. A lovely experience.

We arrived on Thursday to this hotel. Initially thoughts, wow! After a slight hiccup we went to our room. Very clean and comfortable. Had an amazing dinner. Take away breakfast, due to staff shortages. We stayed 3 nights, had dinner each night. This hotel is lovely. The staff are clearly hand chosen, my special thanks to Prim. Can not recommend enough for the accommodation and amenities. And as for the chef! You should be Michelin starred!
