The Grandeur of the Thornbury Castle is amazing. The welcoming is warm. The restaurant food is not worth £42.50 pp when it's served, at best lukewarm on a cold plate. When asking for extra gravy, I don't want a lecture on why the portion size is mean. Left waiting for condiments is not silver service. Salt, Pepper too much to ask for. Just an idea. Leave a bottle of chilled water on the table, rather than bringing jugs of water round. It may be me, but the staff have great personalities, they seem to be repressed by the tight shirts.Would I go again? No.

So, just a short visit for now to have a look around and I must say, I was very pleased and surprised on how amazing it looks. Newly refurbished, clean and some beautiful decor throughout. The team I met was very attentive and presented very professional, looking well dressed, with greeting smiles. I managed to be able to have a walk around with a senior manager and was able visit different areas and some suits and rooms, beautiful. Ok, so would I stay and experience the full package after just a short visit, definitely yes. I cant wait to experience a full stay, meal and all the castle has to offer. Recommended YES you wont be disappointed.

I absolutely loved my stay! The staff were kind, generous, and helpful. The rooms were magnificent, well maintained, with a nice, comfortable bed. My every need was attended to, I felt like a queen. A big thanks to Matilda, Zoe, Nastja, Elli, Bethany, Daniel, Leon, Jake, Johnathan, Pablo, Paul and and John for making my stay comfortable and relaxing! I hope to return soon!

You can't give it any less the 5* as a hotel but dinner was a bit disappointing. We have stayed here before it's current owners, and the good news is they standards have not slipped. Rooms are fantastic (especially the beds) no matter what room type you go for. Service throughout the hotel is first class. Our evening meal sadly did not meet our expectations although it was tasty and well served. If you want a night away for a touch of spoiling yourself, still probably the best about!

Absolutely amazing place! Our family went there to celebrate my niece's engagement and we had afternoon tea. I am Coeliac and they catered for that. Staff were friendly and attentive. Gorgeous place! Cannot fault our experience. The grounds are stunning too.

What a stay! absolutely beautiful place with so much history - done to the highest luxury standard while maintaining a historic feel. Food was incredible for dinner and breakfast was top notch. We upgraded to the Jane Seymour suite and wow! just magnificent. The staff team were exceptional and couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was just perfect. History tour was well worth it too. Can't wait to go back! Thank you to all the team there

Great afternoon tea in a lovely setting. The staff were really attentive, although I did have to hunt someone down to pay the bill. All the food was well prepared, well presented and very tasty. Drinks were very expensive though.

What an experience; brilliant staff, simply amazing room, stunning 6 course Tasting Menu and just the perfect place for a break to celebrate my birthday. Can highly recommend the wine pairing with the Tasting Menu; inspired choices. On arrival the welcome was excellent (thank you Matilda) and in the Dining Room the enthusiasm for excellent service shone through (thank you Dan). All in all a wonderful experience - thank you Thornbury Castle.

Lovely restored castle set in walled gardens and ruins. Our room overlooked the court yard and fountain. Although I can’t imagine any of the rooms not having great views of the village of Thornbury and it’s impressive 11th century St Marys church.Staff where all fantastic. From checking in and through out our visit. We upgraded to the six course taster menu and matching wines. I’m glad we did the food and service matched the grand settings of the restaurant.A lovely over night stay and evening meal. Will definitely be visiting again.

My son and I had afternoon tea in the restaurant and it was a fantastic experience. The food was delicious and just the right amount, 4 finger sandwiches each, 4 small cakes each and 2 small scones each with clotted cream and home made jam, delicious! As much tea and coffee as we wanted. The castle atmosphere was cosy and regal. We were served by the lovely Dan, she was amazing. We will definitely be back again in the near future. Thank you to all the staff at Thornbury Castle, especially Dan!
