Beach House Cafe in South Hams

Visited the Beachhouse to celebrate Mother in laws birthday. Very small venue but with lots of character and fantastic views. The seating was uncomfortable, food was ok but overpriced and the service was slow. Would not visit again.

I very much enjoyed the food. Only slight gripe would be it's a little on the expensive side but it is a small place right on the beach so id say it makes sense being a less than an easier place to get to.During peak times I'd imagine you'd be unlikely to get a table as it's a small location. So I'd say book ahead.They even had a vegan burger option which was unexpected for what is essentially heavily seafood themed plaice.

An amazing little shack restaurant right on the beach. Very rustic with a surfing vibe inside. The food choice, service and overall value-for-money makes this an absolute must try. I was going to go for some seafood but caught sight of the Asian styled pulled-pork burger and had to have it. Superb!!

Overpriced. Could be amazing with a stunning location, but £16.95 for fish goujons and fries is a bit steep. Tiniest cups of take away tea.

I’m not quite sure how people give this place less than 5 stars. Beautiful beach house, bloody good food, lovely staff and great vibes. Highly recommend the ‘Crabby Fries’ :)

What a fabulous place!! It reminded us of a cafe on the ski slopes; staggering in out of the wind to the bustle of a cosy restaurant. Fabulous food, great atmosphere and a brilliant welcome and service. Thank you!

Had many recommendations to visit this place when in Devon, and the (sea) food absolutely didn’t disappoint - there was a fish curry special which was outstanding and virtually every dish was a winner.I would say however that for essentially a small hut on the beach where you sit on thin school style benches, their prices are sky high and portions are relatively small - photo of our crispy squid attached, 6 odd pieces for £9.50 - the other is a starter of garlic prawns that was £22!Cocktails also felt high at over £12 inc service and mains at £20-£25 for a plate of curry again all a little too high which takes the shine over what is otherwise a real gem.

Good food, indifferent service, but any enjoyment completely ruined by the playing of music over external speakers at a completely inappropriate volume. Impossible to sit on the outside tables as the noise rendered conversation impossible. Not only that, but the enjoyment of this beautiful beach was marred by this noise, which could be clearly heard everywhere on the beach, even on the adjacent nature reserve.What is apt for a city street or beach is not wanted by anyone who appreciates the natural peace and beauty of this coastline.Very, very disappointed. Another favourite place ruined by the thoughtless and selfish disregard for the sensibilities of others.

This was our first stop on our trip to Devon and Cornwall. We know the South Hams well but this little gem had eluded us until now.You'll need a reservation if you want to sit inside but there's seating outside weather permitting but even that fills up quickly and after we had left there was a constant queue for them.The service is swift and the orders arrived accurately. All the seafood is local and fresh. The half lobster was so good and the muscles were tender and flavourful. The crab sandwiches were very tasty and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. The king prawns were what they should be, large and succulent.This isn't a cheap and cheerful beach cafe, this is seafood served in a laidback ambience (the music is awesome too, blues, jazz and lounge) with a great view. £140 for 6 people. Worth it!

Amazing food in an amazing location.The staff were excellent very attentive friendly and welcoming. The food was out of this world. Nice big portions and a really simple menu done extremely well. The fish of the day was excellent and changes on a daily basis depending on what is on at the market.Nice selection of local beers and the premium largers to.Well worth a visit if you coming down to South Milton sands
