My second visit, first Sunday lunch… wow! Lush! Proper homemade roast, just what we needed! Crispy roast potatoes & parsnip, tender meat, creamy cabbage, green beans & swede & carrot mix… all the trimmings & tasty gravy . Choice of portion sizes. Oh… staff were lovely too!

Only one thing let this restaurant down and that was the sorry lack of vegetarian dishes. There would have been a choice of four dishes but one had been taken off the menu and one was not available days before we booked. The other two were curry and chilli dishes so if you don't like spice you're left with a cheese sandwich. This seems very poor as we were told several days before going that they weren't going to cook the unavailable dish until the day after we went there.Otherwise the food we had was delicious and everyone was happy.

After a visit to Bigbury-on-Sea and failing to find an open eatery anywhere, we rolled up at the California Inn with only 5 minutes left before they stopped serving food. They were only too happy to accommodate us, promptly serving up a couple of delicious meals inside the clean, tidy and comfortable main bar area. The interior is in a very classic British pub style - cosy and familiar.

Oldey worldey pub. They're were little things that I disliked. The stains of water ingress on the toilet ceiling was one of them. In the bar they had an open log fire burning - lovely. The menu was good too although we didn't eat there. The coffee was good too.

Lovely food & great size portions (both stuffed!). I ordered the braised beef (the mash was amazing!!!) and my partner the beef lasagne. We also ordered the sticky toffee pudding that was delish!

Good country pub. Run by a friendly team. We've eaten here a number of times and have never been disappointed. Good food, fair prices and a nice atmosphere. There is a small outside area, a range of options inside (snug, main bar and family room), and dogs are welcome. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic, ordered crab salad served on a tortilla, beautiful. My husband had burger with blue cheese and enjoyed every morsel. The chips were so good, my grandson couldn't stop eating them. The others in our party enjoyed it equally as much as we did

Absolutely delicious food - so much so we went back on our second night in the area . Staff are very friendly and welcoming and we plan to return when we are holidaying again in the area 🙂

Popped into garage for petrol and spotted pub sign saying open. Lovely little garden. Very attentive host and fantastic food. Highly recommend fish and chips with home made batter. So light and crunchy. Couldn't resist pudding too 😋
