Crab Shell in South Hams

Great views but a bit on the pricey side. Service was great except first time the lady in the coffee section was rude to my husband. Second time it was someone else who was lovely.

Staff very friendly and accommodating. Quality and quantity of food excellent. Highly recommended. Dogs welcome on ground floor.

I’ve just had THE best short rib I’ve ever had. Every mouthful was nomnom 🤤 beautiful. Kids loved their pizzas. And let’s be honest when you order a kids burger we all know it’s going to awful but here the kids burger was fab! Highly recommend this establishment 👍

Lovely place with a brilliant view next to the estuary. Warm,with a real fire going and light and airy surroundings.we had three different meals that were lovely and fresh with good service at reasonable prices.will go again.vefy much an outdoors establishment with patios and verandas.

Great room upstairs for a private function. Food fabulous and came out hot for 28. Thank you to Jordan for exceptional service and total unflappability. Thank you to the chefs for turning the radio down!

It's Thursday 24 March 2022,.Normally I never write Reviews because we in Hospitality ourselves, and we are French, but in this instance I am going to because I cannot recall any meal whereat the contrast between the two dishes ordered has been so profound.My wife ordered the house burger which is GREAT VALUE and GREAT QUALITY and which, completely unnecessarily has two burgers - or pate - brilliant -generous and faultless. Well done. Equall your staff and service was equally faultless - a really nice young crowd - including our young lady (who was expecting) and who was kind, attentive and a total delight.But: The Hosin Pizza 'Duck' something or other, was awful and what's odd is that it is so completely awful and completely and totally out if sync with the rest of the otherwise clearly thought-through Crabshell operation. Specifically it was dry, it's either factory made or Brakes Bros. with a mean topping + base thin enough to be literally to see through. I know as I held it up, uneaten, to the light much to my wife's disgust.So awful I didn't want to eat it, as I gazed longingly at my wife's burger. Of course I mentioned it to the waitress and she v. kindly offered us a sweet 'on the house' which was of course the right thing to do.So - why I mention all this is ? Because I hope the Crabshell owners read it, because whilst my pizza was truly lamentable - in my view - it's not that which matters.......it is that the Crabshell itself clearly does everything it can to please, it's well run, Staff are delightful, so why put on a pizza that doesn't match or fit the rest of the Crabshell offering. It's out of sync.Would I go back ? Yes absolutely, it's a lovely place, lovely staff, unique location but change the Hosin Pizaa please which is MUCH more 'sin' and absolutely no 'Ho'. I advise 'track' the number of half-eaten returns.

We came on a chilly day but we still sat outside under the porch & had one of the best hot chocolate drinks we've had, food did look good, but we arrived for 11is. The young man who served us was polite and very quick, i can see why it's been recommended, will try food at some stage 😀

they do a gluten free pepperoni pizza which i totally reccomend (avalible in kids and adult portions). i also reccomend the gluten free chips. The toilets are really clean. theres a system which if you have gone to the toilet and you think someones spiked something in your drink you can tell a staff member and they will test it out to see if your drink has been spiked its a real issue and i think that is quite a good forward thinking idea.I visited back after i visited all these years ago and its till very good standard.Its impressive that somewhere like this does most things gluten free but a larger chain like mcdonalds cant !

Nice place, good pizza, local beer, great service...don't really need anything else....do you? Oh...toilets were clean and car park was easy to find a spot. Worth popping in if you are passing

A lovely dinner, great food and drink selection. Even though off season for the area and mid week, everything still as you’d hope for from a great crab restaurant. Kudos to everyone, lovely, happy, and friendly staff; super welcome and we were really looked after. Plus dog friendly…always a bonus! Cheers, thanks
