"The Angel offers an outstanding, relaxed, fine dining experience directly on the picturesque River Dart. Our multi award winning Head Chef is Elly Wentworth, a former Masterchef: The Professionals Finalist. Dine with us at lunchtime or in the evening and choose from our Tasting Menu or A La Carte, with some amazing wines to accompany your food. You can also enjoy a traditional (with an Elly twist) Sunday Roast during the winter and spring months with us. Our menu is created with love and care, using only the highest quality seasonal and local ingredients. Check our website for full opening details and menu availability. We look forward to welcoming you to Dartmouth and the Angel."

Excellent service and excellent food, a little difficult to find the restaurant through narrow lanes.

Exquisite starters including an inventive vegan heritage carrot plate with whipped tofu. Sounds odd but was made with great care and artistry. This was followed by a risotto with chopped mushrooms which might have been from a different kitchen, with rice that was soft to the point of soupy. The flavour was earthy and intense, but was wholly undermined by the texture. If you’ve ever had congee you’ll know what I mean. So strange to charge so much for such variable quality. But maybe the folk who run this place know that their rich, captive audience can’t easily go elsewhere for dinner.

Amazing views of the beach and the headlands towards Prawle Point and the new building is decent although missing in the character of the old hotel. The food was of good quality and very tasty. The Tomatoes and goat curd starter converted my partner to eat raw tomatoes for the first time in her life and my crab was tasty. Mains were also decent. My rack of lamb was really well cooked and good flavour with the fat rendered down nicely. Super tasty little sage flavoured sausage role as well. My partners veggie main was not as good but still a pleasant dish which she enjoyed overall. We often find the veggie options can struggle to hit that same standard as the more traditional meat/fish dishes. The wine was recommended by our waiter and was a tasty Argentinian Malbec, which hit the spot for a reasonable price. Deserts were good. Cheese board excellent. Chutney seemed to be more an apple sauce and less than expected. No real ‘chocolate’ option on the menu always seems a mistake IMO but the white chocolate torte was very tasty. Overall a really pleasant evening and we were well looked after by the staff. Four stars as I found it priced a little higher than the quality although the location is exceptional. I still object to paying for bread at the start of the meal. But it was a decent kitchen baked sourdough so I guess that’s why.

Looked amazing, but only stopped for a drink. But friendly quick service. Great location. Definately on our list as somewhere to try.

Sunday lunch. Open fire BBQ and salad table ( help yourself to the salad) roast lamb and ribs were excellent and plenty of unsual salads. Just as we had left our vegetarian adult behind.

We had lunch here today, Sunday. I started with sardines, which were extremely tasty. For mains we had the beef and pork. The portions were very generous and the meat was extraordinarily tender. The service was perfect. The location was gorgeous. The restaurant was spacious with lots of room between tables. To complete this excellent experience our waitress - Alice - was attentive, good-humoured, well-mannered and very knowledgeable about the venue. She made our experience very, very pleasant.

Superb venue for lunch. Great customer service - nothing too much trouble. Views weren't too bad either!
