I can't praise it enough , lovely food best I've had out for a long time . The staff were very efficient friendly and accommodatingas one of my friends were allergic to one ingredient in the rissoto and they were very helpful in preparing meal without it in the meal ... Very impressed !

Went here a couple of years ago and was disappointed with the cost and tiny meals they served no reflection on the current owners who are trying to get the Reputation back. Two for one on the meals I would of thought would be a way of getting the Trout back in the Ratings,

Fantastic and historic country pub with immaculately-kept beers, worth a visit if you're driving or if you're coming through on the South Devon Railway

Really lovely menu and atmosphere. Food was delicious with really good portion sizes. Staff were fantastic and a real credit to Barry! Will be returning very soon. 10/10

Popped in for a drink on a dog walk. Moderately busy. Had a snack with was great and Sunday lunches look great. Dig friendly. Will certainly return. Great staff!

Food was average at best. The waiter dropped a pint of ale over one of us. He did apologise but still. Desert came and the bakewell tart was so small I could almost not find it on the plate. It was flavourless so would not recommend.

The welcome was very warm, and the staff were friendly and genuine. We had seriously good venison pie with mash, greens and gravy to die for. Excellent pastry. The sorbets were delicious too.The pub itself is a little bit tired in places. Some things like the lighting have been updated, but there's a little way to go.

Had a great Sunday lunch yesterday, nicely cooked and plenty of it. Staff were very pleasant and attentive nothing was too much trouble, we will definitely be going back for another Sunday roast.Saw 3* review from diner who's friend was not happy with only 3 roast potatoes, you could have asked for more which they would have been only too pleased to give you at no extra cost.

Had a 3 night stay. The staff were warm and welcoming, the local beer excellent and the location great for exploring and walking the locality especially as dogs were welcomed with open arms.Unfortunately this is not a 4 star luxury hotel. The evening meal was disappointing, the menu was the same as the lunch time offering and lacked any imagination. The breakfast was equally as poor, no fresh fruit or juices on offer, limited selection of cereals that was only provided when asked for. Complete lack of attention to detail in the room. Drinking glasses and waste bin had to be requested. A wall mounted TV in the bedroom had been dismantled with wires dangling down the wall. I consider this pub to be very poor value for money and sadly will not return

I visited for the first time in over 10 years and was pleasantly surprised with the food. I had the beef burger and it was cooked exactly as I ordered (medium rare), the chips weren't anything special but I also couldn't fault them. The service was fairly quick. The only downside was the slightly limited selection of beers on tap but it's perhaps unfair to expect too much from a small country pub.
