Fantastic hotel. You are greeted with wonderful 1 mile drive full of sights of deer and sweeping views. The staff at the hotel were wonderful, offering a really personable approach. The inside of the hotel itself is fantastic if you are a fan of either luxury accommodation or historical properties. Inside the room you are given a really good history of the house in your guest book which just added to the experience of staying in a property like this. Breakfast was the icing on the cake, well presented and cooked to order, it just felt far more special than you would imagine for a hotel of this modest price. For this price i can not think of a hotel i would recommend more. I stay away a lot for work and I can honestly say this hotel was nicer than some hotels 3 times it's price. I will definitely return if I have more work down here in Devon, I think next time I may choose a suite!

My Grandson had his wedding here. Absolutely wonderful. Food excellent. Staff excellent always on hand to help. Reception staff helpful and professional. Smooth transition from room to room, for ceremony , meals, wedding breakfast and then dancing. Our room was spacious and warm ,bed so comfy, bedding really great. Very comfortable stay. Highly recommend. Thank you Kitley .

We have been to Kitley many times over the years and believe its recently changed hands and has had a refurb which looks lovely and you can now use rooms previously closed off. We had Sunday lunch, which was okay but not outstanding but it was still nice to visit and we will be back. Afternoon tea has always been great value and one of the best around but not had one yet with the new owners, something to do soon.

An absolutely stunning venue however the service was appalling. We waited for almost an hour between our read rolls being served and our starter and another hour before our main course. The waitress didn't even know what soup she was serving! We had pre-ordered a gluten free meal for my husband (as we were assured by the person taking the booking that most meals could be adapted) his bread roll arrived 45 minutes after the normal bread rolls and no one seemed certain if his meal was gluten free. We just hoped for the best! When it came to his dessert (although again it had been pre ordered) they didn't have any dessert for him so had to ask for a menu to see if anything was suitable. There were no recommendations by the staff and they appeared to be totally uninterested with no word of apology!Having said that, the food was enjoyable and the occasion made the evening, but it certainly wasn't made by the service. All it would take to make this a stunning 5 stars is staff training so the managers are letting this venue down. Won't be returning any time soon. Sorry!

Some pros, a lot of cons. There is a nice walk through the woods however it is not clearly labelled so we did get lost a few times. The area is nice and the staff are friendly however there were a few issues, we had a loft room which meant the shower was very cramped and uncomfortable (Picture attached). The main room door also had a huge gap at the bottom so you could hear everything going on outside (picture attached), not only that but the room wasn't the cleanest as there were cobwebs and stains around the room (picture attached). The cherry on the top for our stay was the fire alarm going off in the morning (worse timing ever after getting out of the shower), we ran down stairs after the alarm had stopped and started a few times to find out that they had burnt some toast and no one really seemed to care. When the alarm stopped the first time we tried to call reception but there was no answer.

Just attended our daughter’s wedding at Kitley House. The food was excellent for the wedding breakfast and nice and hot when served. Breakfast was very good but choice was a little limited with the continental option. The staff were attentive and any problems were resolved fairly quickly. We stayed in the Winston Suite which had the most uncomfortable 4 poster bed. We hardly slept on either night as it creaked with every movement. Badly needs some maintenance or replacing. Also the bedrooms were very cold generally, due to lack of double/secondary glazing and limited central heating. However, overall it was a great stay and hopefully more renovations and improvements will offer an excellent retreat in the future.

We booked a 2 night break on the recommendation of a friend and we weren't disappointed!Lovely spacious clean rooms, such lovely staff and what a location 😁.We ate breakfast, Sunday roast and a bar snack all of which were fantastic quality and presentation. The roast was amazing, the chef uses local produce and he knows how to cook a Yorkshire pudding.....it was half the plate!!We will be back as we have been well looked after, with nothing being too much trouble. Adam the general manager and Becky the food & beverage manager were genuinely friendly and accommodating and topped off out visit. I recommend to anyone to visit, you won't be disappointed.Looking forward to next time 😁😁

I went here with my pregnant fiancee just to relax and get away from the world and this place did just that. We started with Afternoon tea which was amazing all the cakes were perfect the sandwiches were average though but the cakes made up for that. The room was spacious and gave a nice view in to the countryside. We spent most of our time in the room as it had a very relaxing atmosphere. When we left the room though the staff are really attentive and can't do enough. The evening meal was amazing both of our dinners were phenomenal. The food here is exceptional so even if you don't plan on staying the night I'd recommend just having a meal here.

Before I review I have not stayed here. I came here to look at wedding venues. The staff were very nice and polite and, despite the fact that we had not made an appointment, gave us a tour around the house. Once they have finished this we were then allowed to look around on our own. The other staff came up and chatted to us about the house as well which was nice.I especially liked the fact that we were left to our own device and they did not try the "hard sale".The house is in a lovely condition is well maintained. The bridal suite is very nice and well appointed.

Wonderful stay throughout!!! We had the bridal suite (Churchill room) and it was amazing! The murder mystery evening was fantastic fun and the food was superb! All the staff were polite, professional and friendly. We highly recommend this as a place to stay! The walk along the lake ended our stay perfectly!
