Platform 1 Champagne Bar & Restaurant in South Hams

Wanted to have few glasses of champagne with my wife whilst our baby son was sleeping. The waiter took one look at us, and said there were no tables free, despite over half of them being empty. Happy to take my custom elsewhere with stuck up pretentious waiters like these working there.

Mixed. Staff and quality of food were very good. However , the menu descriptions and the actual food are not compatible.The menu says cod and chips - but they only had fries ( not hand made ) - so don’t expect chips here.The Crevettes with chilli and garlic oil came without the garlic and chilli oil. Very disappointing as I had to ask to get this sorted.The wine came out tepid and we had add ice to cool it down.The chicken burger was supposed to have had bbq marinade - there was no bbq marinade.So this place could be excellent - if the menu and the descriptions were accurate. Will come back if this is fixed as staff great

Lovely meal celebration - staff so friendly and warm. Most delicious prawns ever and monkfish special was delicious. Great wine selection too!

Booked this restaurant in January so we could visit during our weeks stay in Dartmouth in May. Our booking was confirmed a week before eating there, so all good we thought! Received an email 24hrs before our booking to advise our reservation is cancelled due to the kitchen being closed until further notice, what a terrible service!

I recently visited this restaurant and the food and service was exceptional! The mussels were the best I've ever had and my server, Kosta, was so friendly, courteous, and helpful. He even gave me information about apartment rentals in the area (took the time to go out of his way and literally walk me up the street to the letting office). Such an excellent, professional, and positive experience. I would highly recommend this place!

It was great to have our first dinner in Platform 1. The venue has a very nice view and it’s very accessible too.

We were lucky enough to eat in the restaurant last night for the reopening after the place had been closed for refurbishing.The new menu was amazing!!! We eat here regularly and now the staff very well.Hannah the chef has excelled herself (as usual). The food was faultless, the staff are amazing and we are both over the moon that the restaurant is back open for business!! Well done to you all, see you next week! 😃 Kaz and Nigel

Rude owner and we were not the only ones left disappointed. The food is good but at this price point the staff seem really poorly trained. Slow service for an empty restaurant and whilst they were all nice and polite you can’t be positioning yourself as a high end restaurant/Champagne bar (with a price to go with it) without delivering in more than just the decent food. Also, the wifi miraculously failed (whilst they were playing Spotify on the same wifi ??) and we were told we must pay cash for our £160 bill, they did the same to the table next to us who also had a hefty bill and it left a bad taste in our mouthes as they didn’t at least show us the card machine wouldn’t/wasn’t working. I like to give the benefit of the doubt in these cases but it didn’t seem to add up and it felt like it was going in the back pocket of the owner, tips and all! What they have also got, which is unique to Dartmouth, is distinct lack of interest in being open past 8pm. They have a virtually empty restaurant but turn away people on their droves saying they’re ‘fully booked’ - only for nobody else to turn up. We had tried to get in the empty restaurant ourselves earlier in the week and we’re told we can only sit outside as the restaurant was expecting lots of bookings, only for nobody to show up. It’s a shame as there’s huge demand for people who aren’t in bed by 8pm on a Saturday who might want a drink and some dinner. Rockfish and others do this too and it’s really bizarre. Any restauranteurs looking for an opportunity to cash in on hoards of hungry tourists would do well in Dartmouth so long as they stay open after the sun sets!

Great place to eat and drink, right on the river front, food was excellent portions were very generous, service flawless, cant wait to return.
