Went for a meal for a special birthday and came away digusted and upset! I had to send my steak back as it was overcooked, I only wanted it rare, by the time my replacement had come out everyone had pretty much finished their meals. The plate was scolding hot (like ridiculous) so couldn't be touched, the second steak was cooked better but tasted awful and the bit I did try was charcoaled. It also had the biggest piece of fat on the otherside and was unappealing and unappetising. I tried a chip and again in was that scolding hot I burnt the roof of my mouth, everything had clearly been microwaved to heat up with a few extra chips thrown on top! I explained to the waitress that I wouldn't be able to eat, she did apologise. When it came to paying the bill we realised that we had been charged for said meal and explained that we wouldn't be paying as it hadn't been eaten. The chef/owner came out and was confrontational with us saying that we had to pay as they had cooked a replacement and the steak was cooked correctly the second time. Even with me saying that it tasted awful and was inedible and we shouldn't be charged for a meal that wasn't eaten he still said we had to pay! We came away disgusted and it ruined a lovely evening for a special birthday. This is the 3rd time we have been here and every time has been disappointing. 1st visit they tried to charge us for 2 bottles of wine and didn't even apologise for their mistake. 2nd visit they got the order wrong and the waitress was arguing with members of our party and now this! Won't be going back for a 4th visit! The manager clearly needs to going on a management course and learn how to treat customers! How they can charge someone for a meal that wasn't eaten and had to be sent back is beyond me!

Unfortunately our experience was ruined by misdemeanours committed by "presumed" management. Didn't feel like a warm welcoming was there for tourists/new comers.

Excellent Food, rapid service very accommodating staff. I would highly recommend this establishment

This is a much improved pub and restaurant - saved a couple of years ago but the food was very good - in fact I had the cottage pie I have ever tasted two weeks ago.

·

Lovely freshly cooked food. Staff were very friendly. Dogs welcome in the bar area. As you can see from the photo, the banana split is amazing!

·

Amazing after noon, fantastic music from Benny Guitar Carr and Cool Beanz. Delicious BBQ, wish I could have stayed all evening, but duty calls. Very well organized, excellent staff, great service, reasonable prices, lovely beer garden. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Deceptively great pub with great food and helpful staff. From the outside this pub doesn't look all that but don't let that fool you.! Visited twice during our stay in Salcombe and were very impressed by the quality of the food and drink here. Our last visit here we were served by Ollie who was really helpful and could not do enough for us. Would highly recommend this place. Please support places like this who are not in mainstream towns as they need all the business they can to keep going. Credit to the mgmt and staff at this pub 👍🍻

Were to start, first of all we phoned up to reserve a table and were told we would have to wait an hour. Once we got there it was empty so this seemed unnecessary. We ordered the food which took about 35 minutes to come. I had a pizza which was cold in the middle but cooked on top. Base was clearly brought in and toppings were very low quality. The chips and cheese arrived 5 minutes after as the front of house team had forgotten to give the order to the kitchen. These were inedible as they were soggy on the outside and still hard in the middle. Clearly microwaved!! I were sat next to the door to the kitchen and could see the microwave being used a lot.My partner had a lasagna with a side salad which has 3 or 4 random peaces of meat in the side salad which in sure were uncooked pizza topping.Poor servicePoor quality foodPoor HACCAP in the kitchenAnd finally Poor environments as the drunks in the bar kept on coming over to pet our dog. Signs about drug use everywhere didn't help either.
