Sportsmans Arms in South Hams
Where is Sportsmans Arms?
🏠 Blackawton, Totnes TQ9 7DE
"The Sportsmans Arms is a local country pub located just outside Dartmouth on the A379 Dartmouth to Totnes road. The pub is ideally situated in between the villages of Blackawton, Halwell, Cornworthy, Dittisham & Stoke Fleming. There are several Campsites in the local area with Woodlands Glade campsite and Little Cotton camping & caravan site being the nearest. You can expect a warm welcome from our friendly staff, with a roaring fire in the winter & a large beer garden & children’s play area in the summer. Here at the Sportsmans Arms we serve traditional English pub food, and our very popular carvery each Sunday. We are passionate about home cooked food and we use local produce & suppliers. Dogs are more than welcome in the bar area."

Stopped off on our way home, was seated 2 adults 3 children and 2dogs . Great service and the food was excellent. Not seen fish and chips like it superb.

Ate here for lunch with our family. It was pretty empty (only saw 2 other tables occupied when we were there), yet the food took over an hour to come out. Not ideal with 4 young kids trying to keep them entertained (only found the playground as we left). The food was pretty good when it came though.

We went for the Sunday evening carvery. The food and atmosphere was great. The red cabbage was especially tasty. Will go again soon.

Stayed near Blackawton and visited the "Arms" several times for drinks and a couple of meals. I have to say the service is excellent. The barman (manager?) along with the young lady helping were very welcoming and attentive. Both the meals were some of the best pub meals we have ever had. Add that to the log fire, made for a very pleasant experience. Plenty of parking spaces too. Highly recommended.

Went there for wedding, fantastic service, food was great. Big car park and a brilliant outside space for the children. Would definitely recommend this place.

Booked a table for 5 here we were seated in the marquee, table was not set on arrival and marquee was cold, not pre warmed had to ask for heaters.table was set for family that arrived 10minutes after us.food was very good everyone enjoyed their meals, staff were very friendly and helpful. The heater blower they had rigged up kept the marquee nice and warm when it was on but soon went cold when it went off and for some reason it kept going off.Would visit again but only if we can get a table inside.

Excellent carvery; three meats or a nut roast to choose from, plus lots of different vegetables. A pleasant pub inside, but we sat 'outside' in a semi-permanent space built to accommodate people during the pandemic. The pub menu was good as well as the carvery option, with service very friendly and efficient. Unfortunately we were too full to try a dessert, but even without that knowledge we would definitely recommend this pub. Dog-friendly and a children's outdoor play area too, by the way.

Brilliant food with a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and excellent service. I would highly recommend. We sat in the newly renovated marquee area!

Spent a great evening here. We were a large group and they had no qualms about us pulling together two big tables. Decor is very cosy and we'll maintained. Carvery is front and centred setting the tone for your evening here. Food was very good. Waiting time wasn't overly long and all the staff were friendly. More than enough parking, which is a good thing as the location is a little bit out. Would definitely recommend if you're in the Dartmouth area.
