No problem with quality of food but service was disappointing, food was served 45 mins after taking our table, no problemPlates were cleared, after 15 mins of waiting, we asked for desert menu to be told the kitchen was closed, 10 mins later we were told that our bill would be made up. It duly arrived on a plate with complementary chocolates, we paid the bill and plate was removed with 2 out of 3 chocolates still thereWe thought maybe they close early but as we walked out it was clear that half a dozen locals we’re still sitting at the bar.The other pub in the village were happy to see us with a warm welcome!!

The buffet was a mixture of homemade and preprepared(I think}. Everything was very well prepared, in fact I took a lot home. It was the funeral party for my mother and I grazed on the buffet for 2 or 3 hours. The mini pasties and the vol au vents were particularly nice. I understand that the price was Very reasonable. Nice touches in the ladies as well. Thanks for your efforts and hospitality. I prefer a place which is independent rather than corporate like Weatherspoons.

I ordered 2 pizzas for take away and received what seems to be pizza bought in supermarket with some rocket and piece of tomato on the top. I am a Chef and work in the industry feeding people on a daily basis and this is outrageous on my holiday!

Stoke Gabriel is a fantastic place to spend some quality time. And to top off a great afternoon, a cold one in the beer garden of the castle inn. It's a real sun trap, not the biggest of gardens, intimate I guess, but a very pleasant place to while away an hour while enjoying a good beer.

·

Lovely local pub that serves food. Great selection of beers and staff and locals are all very friendly and welcoming. Nice spacious beer terrace that is secluded.

·

The best Sunday roast beef dinner I have ever had, and the Jail beer is alright too.

·

Lovely friendly pub, with good food at sensible prices. Lovely decor, the photo above needs updating .
