Myself and my husband happened upon this pub whilst looking for somewhere to eat, we are so glad that we did. Lovely friendly landlord and fantastic food, freshly cooked. As a very fussy eater I would highly recommend eating here.

Amazing food and great staff. We want for Sunday roast and it was one of the best we have had for a long time! Definitely worth the visit 👍

·

Nice local pub, attended an engagement party. The room was nice and cosy, the food laid on was yum, could have done with some salad though! Nice little choice of real ales. Staff friendly and helpful.

·

Wonderful warm welcome; good honest food, piping hot, well presented, and thoroughly enjoyable; great hosts; and a great village pub atmosphere

·

Excellent little pub hidden away from the beaten track. Clearly a great deal of care and effort put into the food and guest satisfaction. Special effort made to accommodate allergies. Strongly recommended for a visit to the area.

We have just had a few days in Devon and visited this lovely pub twice as we couldn’t resist a revisitThe food was first class and couldn’t fault . The landlord was exceptionally attentive and friendly .The COVID secure measures were the best I’ve seen , everything was spotless. We haven’t enjoyed a meal so much for a very long time .If you are in the area please don’t miss this pub .Make sure you book .

A hidden gem. Good traditional food at a high standard. Staff attentive and very friendly, willing to make deviations from the set menu when requested and even make suggestions. Knowledgeable about food allergies. Will definately call again if I'm in the area.

Disappointing Not a great experience but I am sure we were just unlucky these things happen and all other reviews are 5star We will return !!Since sending this review I have been contacted by Adrian which is much appreciated. The Pub obviously has a superb reputation and is hugely popular with the locals and visitors to the region Having spoken with Adrian I remarked that we felt that some of the food was bought in but Adrian confirms that 90% of the menu is produced on site so I apologise for that misconception I have therefore raised the star rating too 4 which I hope goes someway to put the records straight. Hope the summer goes well and freedom day goes ahead in the 19th July !!

We all went here on a Wednesday evening and were made all very welcome. The atmosphere was good with the feel of the olde worlde surroundings. The food was good from a varied main menu with excellent starters and deserts. Good selection of ales, wines and non alcoholic drinks. Dog friendly. We found the Fortescue Arms an excellent place to eat and drink with the relaxed atmosphere. These places need your support and I rate this old Inn more than five stars.

Quaint old village pub with a great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Food is amazing but I recommend booking as the pub is small with few tables for eating. Very dog friendly. We ate here twice in our three day stay in the area. Once as a group of six on arrival night then as a couple for Sunday dinner. The locals were friendly as well and welcomed us into their pub with plenty of good humour.
