The hotel is really old and quirky. We had the cosy room that faces the central courtyard. There is no lift because the hotel was built in 1630. The stairs didn’t bother us. We loved our room. The bed was very comfortable and big. The whole room was surprisingly big considering it is called cosy room. The staff are very friendly and the bar is very popular. The breakfast with the amazing view of the river Dart was great. It’s just like the Mediterranean at night walking along by the riverside with the twinkling lights of the buildings on the other side reflecting off the water. We took the ferry to the other side of the river to go to Brixham. As it was still March some places were not open on the Sunday and Monday, but we noticed it is like this in other places we have visited this year. We had a lovely time and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Would rate 6 stars if I could. Best food, best staff, super dog-friendly. Upgraded our room free of charge as my partner has injured her knee that day and they moved us down a floor.

We had a three course meal, it was well proportioned, good quality and very tasty. I also enjoyed learning about the history of the building. We tipped the waiter 10% and will definitely be going again in the future.

Awesome few days between Christmas and New Year, all staff fantastic, they go above and beyond, no complaints about the food and a pint of "Proper Job" was just the job. 🍺😊

Very good hotel in a beautiful old building and superb location.Good size rooms with amazing views over the harbour, beds very comfortable.Working the TV in the rooms doesn't come easily. My bathroom could have done with some T.L.C. needs re-masticing and some small repairs! (Room 18)Excellent breakfast and good evening meals.Good selection of beers/lagers.Staff polite, attentive and professional.Big thanks to Jessica who made check in easy and Leah who is a amazing waitress. There is 4 floors but no lift and it no longer has a car park due to new ownership.Bar and restaurant very busy this time of year.Dog friendly.Recommended.
