The location could not be better, overlooking the Estuary. Restaurant staff very impressive, friendly, attentive and efficient. The best skate wings possible. Rooms comfy, pool good, wine list š

Have been to salcombe harbour spa several times over the years but I think our most recent visit will be our last. The company had initially been great about extending gift vouchers during the pandemic when we couldnāt use them but were then inexplicably difficult and went back on their initial promises when we actually tried to book spa days in. We had quite a lot of stress trying to get them to be decent before they eventually agreed which felt pretty short sighted of them. Having always parked in the car park for previous spa days, this time we were greeted by being told we would not be allowed to park there as it was reserved for hotel guests (which clearly spa members and spa day guests are not considered to be). We were told we had to find parking elsewhere in salcombe, which in the summer is no mean feat. We eventually parked about 30 minutes walk away up a steep hill. We heard other spa users enquire about a membership who were also shocked that members couldnāt park there either so it wasn't just us that found this odd. When we went for lunch we were then immediately told spa day guests had to eat inside and we werenāt allowed to sit in the outside dining area unless we were ordering ābar foodā; again, this is a new rule since previous visits and Iām not too sure of the logic. Service was slow despite the restaurant being empty so we ended up having to enquire where our second course was and then rush to finish it in time for our treatment booked 90 minutes after the spa had booked us to have lunch. The waiter was the only member of staff who gave genuinely energetic and friendly customer service and he was so good that his approach actually really stood out. My husbandās massage was apparently really good but Iād say that my ādeep tissueā massage was pretty poor and definitely in no way deep tissue. I actually got bored and wished it would end which i donāt think Iāve ever experienced before during a massage š The spa area is pretty small and the relaxation area was busy with most seats taken by guests who had laid their belongings there and then left. The person on the lounger next to us was playing a tv show on their phone next to us without earphones. The behaviour of guests is obviously not the spaās fault but it generally just contributed to a pretty āmehā experience. Iād say the spa is a nice addition if youāre staying at the hotel but definitely not worth going out of your way for for a spa day, there are much nicer spas for that. I get the sense the spa and its guests arenāt seen as the real focus, the priority is clearly hotel guests - so maybe the customer service would feel different if you were staying there.

The hotel is in a lovely location and the staff were friendly and polite. However, we didn't feel the hotel lived up to our expectations compared to other hotels we've stayed in for the same sort of price. We had an 'estuary glimpse' room which did have a good view, but the room felt a bit tired with signs of wear and tear particularly in the bathroom with shower sealant cracked and discoulered. Restaurant food very average, and breakfast cooked food poor... so much so that we opted to go out for breakfast on our last day rather than eat at the hotel. Shame as this place deserves to be excellent, but it all felt a bit average and not good value.

Lovely hotel in beautiful setting helpful staff the only disappointment was the restaurant the food was good but we could have been at butlins for such a stylish hotel to have a canteen style rather than a lovely restaurant eas disappointing also why canāt their be a designated area for families with young children we were surrounded by screaming kiddies and some were just running around with no parental control we ate up and left asap so if you want a peaceful quiet meal eat somewhere else it sad really they have bifold doors that could easily separate couples wanting a quiet meal

Stayed at the hotel as a surprise for my boyfriend's birthday. The entire stay was a DREAM. Had an estuary room view with a Juliette balcony, the room was beautiful with lovely amenities. Every staff member was incredibly friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The lounge attached to the bar was lovely, and we enjoyed having a drink and playing cards there each evening. The spa was lovely and all of the facilities felt very luxurious. We will definitely be returning

Earlier today a friend and I spent the afternoon on the terrace drinking cocktails and eating snacks from the bar menu. We decided to return later on in the evening for bar food and drinks. We checked earlier on in the afternoon whether we needed to make a reservation and we were told providing we arrived before 8pm that there would be no need to book. Upon our arrival at 7.30pm we were told by the bar staff that as we were not a resident of the hotel, we could not have any drinks or bar food which was disappointing to hear as we had already checked earlier on in the day and had planned our evening. As a regular visitor of the hotel, I have never experienced this before and while the food, drinks and service is usually always very good, this was very disappointing.

Stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate our anniversary. The service was first class, great food and cocktails. Our room was super nice (best estuary view). Great view, nice and spacious and well stockedwith free gin and sherry. Only two things prevent me giving a 5 star. Our bed was quite hard. We have a hard bed at home, but this one was too firm. The 11am checkout is also a bit too early. A nice break away should allow for a bit of a lie in, a leisurely breakfast and a gentle easing back into reality after check out. I did notice though that some people did ask if it was ok to leave their cars and bags for a while so that they could explore Salcombe for a while before leaving. There weren't any problems with them doing so, perhaps making the 11 o'clock checkout less onerous.

We stayed here originally for our honeymoon 6 years ago & our latest stay was just as good. When you arrive, you leave your car right outside & the valet then parks it for you.Check in was friendly & efficient & there was hand sanitizer on the desks / nearby tables. There is a lift which sure helps when you have bulky luggage. Our room had a balcony overlooking the river. They provide binoculars & blankets if you want to sit outside but it's a bit cold. Also provided in the room were decanters of free house gin & sherry plus chargeable mini bar items.Breakfast is in their very good, in-house restaurant "The Jetty."There is a cinema room to play DVDs / Netflix shows etc plus on-site spa & swimming pool. All in all, a lovely hotel especially for celebrating special occasions.I wanted to post a separate review for "The Jetty" but no listing exists for it on here, so I have just posted pictures under "Food & drink." Great quality food, big portions & friendly, helpful staff.

Fantastic supper! Seafood bite starters were very tasty ( consisted of calamari, king prawn and salmon roll) and seafood curry was superb, perfectly cooked. Service from Paul and George was top notch , providing detailed knowledge of the menu and even changing the dressed salad for an undressed one super quickly even though it was our fault for not specifying this! Can not fault service or meal, highly recommended š

Overpriced and uninspiring. Went here for a birthday treat, but we were very disappointed. As we'd booked late the only room available had what was described as an 'inland view' but in fact this meant our window faced a brick building less than 10 ft away so there was NO view and very little natural light. The room and bathroom were poky and uninspiring. There was complimentary tea and coffee facilities and gin and sherry, but everything else in the mini bar was overpriced. We'd booked a bed, breakfast and dinner deal, but later found out it only covered dinner up to £27 per person, which didn't cover the cost of 90% of the main courses. 3 courses and 3 drinks for two people came to an eye-watering £189, and I'm afraid I thought the food was merely average. Breakfast was good, but again, the booking price didn't cover tea and coffee!!! We couldn't afford any treatments in the spa, bud did have a swim in the tiny pool and a quick visit to the steam room and sauna. The hotel is rather dated looking and even a bit run down outside, and definitely does not make the most of its beautiful situation. Parking is a nightmare. All in, one night for two came to just under £400 and left us disappointed and feeling ripped off.
