We were all cold on the evening we ate at The Oyster Shack. It was a cold April evening. The heaters around the place helped but we were still 'outside' with the 'tent' flap wide open. I suspect young people don't feel the cold in the same way. The fish was good, the salad wasn't to my taste. I enjoyed the starter which was scallops, well cooked and nicely served. I think the Oyster Shack, if they are going to place you in the outside heated area, is a place to eat in May to September. One more thing, I would like a few more choices on the menu. Tbere really wasn't very much.

This was lunch before heading home after our weeks holiday spent in a lovely cottage in Kingston. The food was fantastic. The sea bream was so fresh. It tasted so good. Cooked to perfection. The mussels were excellent. The prawns in garlic butter was very nice - even my son liked it and he never usually have this! Seafood croquettes were also very good. My son who don't usually eat fish that much either, unless we ask him to eat it, loved the pan fried Pollock. It was a surprise to us. I think it was the freshness of the fish that did it. He finished the The whole piece of fish by himself. The service was excellent as well. We sounded it of with ice cream which we also enjoyed. This restaurant was recommended by our cottage and I also fully recommend it to anyone who are in the vicinity.

Wow! What a place. We have been trying to book there for about three seasons and not been able to get a table. This half term we booked in advance... well worth the wait. Place looks amazing, lovely atmosphere, staff are very friendly and the food is top notch.

Quality full sized crab was excellent and great value for money. Quirky sea theme decor made it a really good dining experience.

Met up with friends after contacting the restaurant to arrange outside seating., which was not a problem.Staff really friendly and nothing too much trouble.Food very good, bruschetta and hot prawns to start, followed by fresh Hake, Mussels and Gilt head bream all very tasty.Good service. Not cheap but we all thought price was good for what we had eaten.

Worth making a detour for. Book ahead. The food is superb, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We had half a dozen raw oysters and another cooked. With a mix of toppings. All beautiful. For veggies, the gnocchi was brilliant, maybe the best we've had.

Turned up with out a booking just after 2:00 pm. Made very welcome and a table was laid out. Drinks came out 5 mins after order taken and then followed by food. Excellent service and the food was five star. Had no problem leaving a tip. Will definitely come again when in the area.

Had a nice local Devon beer. No view & no tables nor food for one, yet you can freely order a take away i believe. I enjoyed 1hrs walk there along the tide road then up through the trees, unfortunately i could not walk back as tide road had disappeared into the river 2hr walk back.So do bare in mind to check the tides.

I loved this place. The location is totally unexpected. As soon as you walk in, it looks and feels like a shack. The service was exemplary. Attentive, friendly, efficient. The food was the best we had in Devon. The octopus and the king prawn croquettes were to die for.Book early, as it’s hard to get a table!

Cool setting with good selection of catch of the day being bbq’ed. We did enjoy ourselves overall and thought the ambience and beers made the evening. With that said, we thought that there were a few misses given the higher price point. Stale basic bread basket with cold butter at £4.20 is a rip off- skip it. The wild prawn starters were also disappointing - served cold with shell on where you have to devein it yourself was uninspiring (served again with cold stale bread). Pick the bbq’ed items instead. Also book for early service if you don’t want to be disappointed your selection of seafood has run out. The churros and coffee were nice.
