Came for a few games of pool and a couple of pints - the locals made snide comments the whole time we were there and the landlord was very rude. Shame as we used to come here a lot for the live music and the festival - feels a bit sad and unloved now...

Great quirky pub. Great ale. Friendly staff

My wife and I stay in Malborough 3 of 4 times a year so we know the area very well. This pub is fantastic. I had possibly one of the nicest fish and chips I’ve ever had there. Beautifully cooked fish, batter not too heavy. Seriously good. And wonderfully lovely and friendly staff. Thanks so much!!! We will be back

I try to visit the RO from Thames Valley for a couple of days of R&R each year. This is an archetypical English pub with B&B rooms - not a 5star Hotel. And as such is a complete pleasure to be in.Tim, the Landlord, has created a unique brand of hospitality. Good beer, decent food (esp the steak) and live music.I along with the gang of locals, love the place.

Really old local pub. Full of character. The inside looks like it hasn't been touched in years. Very friendly welcome by the landlord.

A last minute quiet break, craving some peace and quiet away from the crowds and some wonderful walks. Superb position with easy access to amazing walks by the coast and very comfy stay with a wonderful, interesting host and friendly pub dog. Perfect stay for us. Also, couldn't have been more helpful when we realised we had left laptop charger in the room and kindly found it and posted it on a few days later. Would 100% stay again.

My partner and I have just spent a very enjoyable three nights at The Royal Oak. Our friendly host Tim looked after us well and his generous breakfasts were delicious. A great atmospheric pub, filled with many quirky artefacts, close to Hope Cove and Salcombe. Would definitely stay again!

Interesting pub, clean rooms and Tim is a lovely guy, best English breakfast and best burger eat. For sure I will go back

A little bit different from most standard corporate pubs. Packed with different things all around the bar areas as well as a selection of hand pumped beers at the bar and a wide range of other drinks. A very welcoming pub and the steak meals are also very good, I have tried quite a few over years. Something on most evenings, including live acts most weekends.
