A beautiful pub and location.Unfortunately the food was not as good as it should have been. A very reasonable £8 for fish and chips on a Tuesday night however I am very glad that it was not full price at around £15. The chips and peas were poor (cheap freezer type) and the fish was not as expected from a coastal South Devon pub, lots of batter and a little overdone. Staff were not particularly welcoming to holiday visitors or children.

My parents and I came here for an evening meal after a rather long day out.First of all, the staff were super friendly and cheerful - and made us feel uttermost welcome, which is really refreshing when coming into a restaurant/pub.Second of all, the food is some of the best food we've ever had: my step dad had the Arancini Crab Balls (which he commented were delicious) to start and had Hake for his main. He remarked it to be the best fish he has ever had in his entire life (considering he is a massive fish fan, that is rather exceptional). As for my mother, she is a vegan and was more than delighted to discover a proper and very well-made full vegan meal that she found incredible.I had the lamb rump which was some of the best lamb I've ever had, cooked to perfection with a brilliant sauce. Finally, the desserts were more than sublime and a very tasty end to an amazing and unbelievable meal. Truly confirming just how much of an incredible experience coming to this place was.My parents and I could not recommend this establishment enough - and we have booked again this same week, hungry to find out what the other foods on the menu taste like. Absolute perfection.

Friendly staff, pleasant and accommodating. Good food. Very nice mood even during the day, at night I'm sure it will wonderfully cosy especially if the fire is burning.

Lovely pub restaurant. For a quiet time of year an interesting menu selection. Friendly and cheerful service, imaginative food which was well cooked. Good wine selection. Decent prices. All round excellent. Will go back when we are next in the area without question.

Great food and friendly staff. Some of the pub is starting to look a little tired and the service was a little slow on a weekend evening for us, but I'm sure would suit many. A safe bet for a good meal

Always a pleasure to visit and enjoy a meal in the Ship. We went on Valentine's and the food was outstanding. Beautifully presented extremely tasty and as always, a lovely atmosphere. Even by their standards it was a great meal. Many thanks.

Amazing local pub! Rustic, spacious and welcoming. The menu is smart with many vegetarian and vegan options. It looks like mostly food is made from the scratch - they even bake their own sourdough.I tried veggie burger and it was very tasty (a bit lacked seasoning which can be easily fixed), the bun was fantastic and onion/potatoes hand cut.The list of wines and drinks is great and you will find some new tastes and producers not the typical pub selection only.
