The food was very hot and well cooked. However the Creme Brulee was very thick and not very nice, do not recommend, but everything else was lovely. Very nice staff.

Went to the Sloop for an evening meal. Had the pie meal and it was lovely! Filled with meat with a wonderful flavour. Service was good and the real log fire added to the atmosphere.Today we had a lunch at The Sloop. A simple in-the-basket meal both for me and my partner. The chips were beautifully cooked, crispy outside and soft middle. The toilets were clean but the one I used was very small!

Easy booking on line. Excellent service from the moment we arrived. Every member of staff was helpful and pleasant. Dealt with dietary needs brilliantly. Gluten free and dairy free and had a very full meal. Very busy and only a small wait. Don't go by website, book with confidence. We will be back in a few days time. Only negative for some might be the rally drive to get there but that's what you come to Devon for. Lovely river and heathland walk after towards beaches. Stunning.

Incredibly friendly helpful staff. Very clean rooms with good showers. Excellent breakfast choices . Great value for money. Would definitely recommend.

We were recommended a visit to The Sloop for dinner. It was marvellous, definitely one of the better experiences in Pub dining. The two young lads behind the bar worked really well and the chef created lovely food. I had Goats cheese panna cotta for a starter and loved it, followed by fish and chips....which I could not finish, big bit of fish. Batter was not at all greasy.Rhe car park for the pub is a little on the small side, so I imagine high season you'd be lucky to get a space. Also, what was really good to see that even on a Thursday evening at the beginning of May it was really busy...a sign of a good Pub!

I dont like to write negative comments but i feel i must because pubs like this that are institutions must know where improvement’s are required. The food was awful. Such a lovely pub, great beer and overall atmosphere is brilliant. But the food was really bad. We often go the beach at Bantham so are regulars to the village. Due to the popularity of the micro location, and the amount of tourism in the area this should be a 5 star venue that is focused on reputation and repeat business, but standards unfortunately do not match up to the expectations. Such a shame.

Loved staying here. Staff were so friendly and lovely, especially Carol-Anne, but also Scott and Shirley. Food was great too - thanks chef! Will definitely be back. Xxx

Did we have good time staying and dining at The Sloop ? Yes … we did but how much of that was to do with the location and a choice we made not to get upset by the lack of warmth and care in the service we were offered ? 85% I’d say … the changes they would have to make are small yet significant.. a proper greeting .. grabbing us some bread from the kitchen when we arrived very hungry but 10 mins late for lunch after crossing Devon on the day of the big storm and by offering decent local jam and a smile at breakfast (instead of the cheapest sachets on the market) plus a cheery goodbye on departure… not too much to ask ..Excellent homemade fish pie and friendly young chap behind the bar in the evening

God must really love you if you manage to get into their car park… its room for 6 cars with no space to turn round in a village with the most popular beach in South Hams, and yes there is a sour faced parking attendant ready to extract money with 2 hours of daylight left. I digress because as i sighed upon entering the car park and seeing it full.. a family arrived and promptly drove off . Wow I do believe in miracles .. oh yes and the food and beer is good as well

Popped in for a drink and a snack while walking the coast path in the area and, though it was Sunday lunchtime, the staff were so friendly and helpful. A very welcome change from many of the pubs around Devon & Cornwall, that seem to see walkers as a nuisance.
