Venus Cafe in South Hams

Veggie and vegan breakfast ordered, order was wrong, when it came out again was wrong too. Food was cold and horrible. We remember 2019 Venus breakfast as being one of the best we’ve had, sadly this was rubbish compared with then. Won’t be going to a Venus cafe anytime soon.

OK! So what happened to this lovely go to breakfast venue? I have been here before and I remember lovely tables, China cups and saucers, a bustling atmosphere, and a good breakfast. 3 weeks ago we visited and disappointed does not even cover it. The food was cooked OK. The plates are just awful. It must cost more in trying to be GREEN by disposing of all of the stuff and getting it recycled. It is doing local folk out of work who could do the washing up of proper China, and cutlery. The staffing level is not good. I did not feel a nice Sunday morning warm welcome for sure. Will not be revisiting again until I see better reviews or hear that it has had a complete makeover and a welcoming smile given the fantastic location it is privileged to be sited upon. No one minds paying a decent price for decent service, food and ambience. It was the morning after a wedding but that is no excuse for a hospitality venue. WAKE UP and SMELL SOME GOOD COFFEE.

For many years I have brought my visitors to Blackpool Sands for breakfast but we were so disappointed on our last visit on Sunday. I get that they’re trying to be ‘eco’ but food was served on nasty bamboo plates, and rather than choosing between a full or junior breakfast it was ‘build a breakfast’ whereby you choose items to suit. The whole experience was unpleasant, as were the staff who were more interested in clearing up after a party the night before.

I'm leaving one star for the view alone otherwise zero. Pay a fiver for the privilege to park in the empty car park of the restaurant you want to eat at. Then over £40 for a basic breakfast for a family of 4. The sausage and bacon was barely cooked. In fact, I didn't risk the sausage. It was stone cold. Butter was solid, trying to spread it snapped my compostable fork. I get and respect the eco friendly ethos but I've eaten 10× Better food at macdonalds. The girl who served us was lovely but seemed embarrassed when we queried the extortionate cost. This place is a less than average greasy spoon with a highstreetbistro price and ego. Rubbish coffee too.

The portions are tiny, the prices are high and everything tasted pretty awful.. we had burger, sausages and fish and chips and could hardly finish as it tasted horrible..

Absolute hole. Strong smell of grease, the floor consisted of dirty tiles covered in food and crumbs. The tables have names and words carved into them like 90s school tables with dirty, rusted bases. Made the daft decision to eat here after the pics on the internet advertised it as a potential wedding venue 😂. Burger was dry and burnt with the taste and texture indistinguishable from its stale bun. Also you'd think you can't go wrong with a cheese toastie... you'd be wrong. (see picture). Actually considered booking a wedding here but upon seeing the place, it doesn't even function properly as a greasy spoon cafe, let alone a wedding venue. Staff were friendly and offered us a free flapjack when they finally noticed that the food was barely edible but we turned it down as more awful food didn't seem like a good idea. A refund would have been better and would have saved it from this review. Total cost of a burnt cheese toastie, tasteless burger in a stale bun, 1 cup of luke-warm French fries and two cans of drink with accompanying dirty glasses- £19.98. If an exceptionally high tide dragged this place into the sea, it would actually improve it.

A nice cafe with a beach shop on situated at the top of the beach. The prices are high as expected due to the location and queue's in the summer can be long. The kayak and paddle board hiring was reasonable though.

A great place to eat out for vegans - although rather pricey as you would expect for a beach cafe.We had a couple of bags of chips and vegan ice cream and they sell both Ben and Jerry's chocolate and brownie ice cream and also a vegan ice cream in a cone that is gluten free too.Massive queues but to be expected on such a beautiful day.

I present to you… the £5 chicken Caesar wrap. Returning it to the kiosk the kind staff said there was simply nothing that could be done and I was left to eat the bare tortilla wrap wishing I’d chosen something else. The prawn tacos were delicious but the wait was over an hour on a Monday lunchtime.

This has to be one of the best locations in the country for a cafe. In winter it is quiet and spectacular and open almost every day.All the food is fresh, and local. The management is exceptionally environmental aware, hence the slightly higher prices. With a view like that from a responsible management, it is simple joy.
