The Castlebrook Inn in South Somerset

Kitchen closed permanently. Very sad, another pub on the brink of being closed down.

Not the best veg very hard but to be fair a lot of people prefer this we had the beef have had a lot better price was Ave desert choice was poor only 3 and ice cream I think they were stretched with a lack of staff bar man was taking orders and serving as well as bar

This is a traditional and overall nice little country pub , there is plenty of room , it's dog friendly and everyone seems to appreciate our four legged friends, the food range is limited , there are lots of grills and burgers but pies , pasta less so.The burger I tried was the Butcher's Burger which was very good , there was a hearty amount and it could easily overwhelm a smaller appetite, there is not too long a wait either. The elephant in the room as I saw it was the apparent conflict with the age old Local or Tourist debate ! Clearly it matters not to me , a tourist , but the locals believe the new management pander to outsiders. I mention it because it was present , i hope the local do understand that although we won't be there in cold December nights , neither will they if the balance is not maintained !

We were just passing and stopped here for lunch. Sat out in a back garden under large shading umbrellas and had the biggest platter of fish for 2 of us to share. For the first time in our lives we could not eat it all! Wide variety of fish, with 3 dips and attentive waiter fetching us more drinks with plenty of ice - just what was needed on the hottest day of the year

Nice lady and loved her dog but tables were sticky, almost dead flowers in vases on tables, flies in restaurant. Had fish n chips and scampi n chips with tiny bowl with apx 16 peas, okish. Changed our minds and didn't have a desert. Could be a destination as in brilliant place in a pretty village. No Sunday roast dinners after 4pm. Lots of parking. I know lock down has hit pubs hard but this place has lots of potential

Hanna was very helpful and friendly, we enjoyed a cold cider before heading to a cider farm that she recommended that was just down the road..

Quick pit stop for a winter warmer. Beautiful old traditional country pub.Got a lovely welcome from the pub labradorite and the landlords are really friendly.Very large log burner with comfy seating.Big garden to the rear.RecommendedDog friendly

I think it's a family business. People were lovely and service was great. The food was delicious and just the right amount, not too much not too little (just right). My friend had apple cake as dessert and she said it was a very good one.

Very good food, tasted and great portions even the small ones. And we enjoyed the music on our last day around
