I'd promised my friend an afternoon tea for her 70th birthday but we had a limited window on Thursday afternoon after 3pm. We discovered that every cafe in the neighbourhood stopped serving food at 3pm and were about to give up in despair when I remembered Silver St. I wasn't optimistic about our chances but the Kitchen on Silver St couldn't have been more helpful. We got a brilliant afternoon tea, served in fine china, with a lace cloth, very generous amount of smoked salmon, ham and cucumber sandwiches, choice of two types of cakes from the many available plus excellent scones, jam and cream and a big pot of good hot tea. We pushed the boat out and added a glass of prosecco but it was still less than ÂŁ20 per person. A few years ago I took someone to afternoon tea at the Ritz and I can honestly say that it wasn't as good as this (and it was a lot more expensive). The service was great too.The cafe is open day time and some evenings, offers a good range of food and lovely cakes and is licensed. It's well worth a visit whether a special occasion or just a coffee in town. I'll definitely be going back.

It was lovely breakfast stop off as was in Ilminster on business. The lady serving was very attentive and welcoming to me I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Excellent service from friendly & attentive staff. Really good menu with a lot of choice. There was a big selection of cakes & bakes, and the Sticky Toffee cake was easily the best I have ever tasted. Highly recommend this place!!

Nice cafe. Great food but not cheap. Good selection of background music too! Friendly staff.

Totally ignored, people came in after and were served before me. Only asked if I wanted a menu when I got up to leave after waiting and waiting.Thank you for your reply but I didn't get any food because I was only asked as I was leaving your cafe.

Very good, scones fresh and warm, bread super soft, amazing range of cake and great coffee. Service great, even though we were the last customers.

When my partner and I arrived, we received no greeting and seated ourselves. Even after being sat for a while and a member of staff cleaning a table and another behind the till, still no communication. My partner went up to the till only to be told that they would come to the table. Our order was taken and we received our tea and coffee, the tea cup was very stained. The food was good though. The atmosphere wasn't great and was very quiet. Not friendly at all in my opinion. Would not recommend and wouldn't go back.On another note, the interior design could do with some work, the tables don't suit the atmosphere and it's rather cluttered with odd things.

Highly recommend this little cafe as a mid-journey stop.We called up on the day in advance and reserved a table for 9am which wasn’t essential but as we were en route and didn’t want to hang around it was a good idea. The place quickly filled up. There’s probably only 6 or so tables inside.Breakfast menu options were great and tasty, I ordered off menu using a combination of their options and they were very accommodating.Located near to lots of lovely little shops too.Service with a smile and we will definitely be back here if passing again.

We decided to go here and glad we did.A very friendly greeting as we entered the cafe and the place was nice and clean and a fresh feel to the place, the pricing was good and the place had of seating. The menu looked really good and seemed to accommodate most dietary needs, but we plumped for the cake and wasn't disappointed (a great chunk of cake ).Wouldn't have a problem coming back here..
