Stayed last year for my partners birthday. Beautiful room, views, and service. Only reason for knocking a star off is we had our afternoon tea cancelled and not much to reconcile - aside from that a wonderful stay and we will be most likely return!

I met friends at this beautiful hotel for birthday drinks and nibbles, having always been curious and wanted to go there! I live close by and so am used to Cotswold country roads with which to get to it, and so loved the tucked away feeling of the location. However parking was a bit short because of this, so if busy, don't expect a parking space out the front. The inside has been given a contemporary twist with a pink neon 'The Painswick' sign to welcome you in with the bar to the right. Our party were stationed in comfy sofa's in a living room to the left of the main door, with the French doors open to let the balmy cool night in, whilst a roaring fire was on! Stepping out through the French doors lets you into terraced gardens that face the lovely Cotswold stone exterior, that is covered with wisteria. We had a lovely evening drinking delectable champagne and eating bread and butter with crisps! Not the pairing you would normally go for but it was delicious. The staff were totally polite and courteous, even after a little mishap with our bill, so thank you for that. This is the type of place that is perfect for the special occasion - I'd love to stay here, may have to wait for a big birthday! Hopefully be back soon...

Dropped in for afternoon tea. Wow. A beautiful and comfortable upscale hospitality establishment. A mix of updated but comfortable rooms, contemporary art, beautiful furnishings, floors. lighting, rooms and grounds. Not large, but large enough to be comprehensive. The staff was friendly and warm and solicitous.. Not that we are experts, but the scones were fabulous. The dinner menu looked well curated, maybe a bit pricey. Clearly the Painswick is one of those places that is worth a detour.

A very Cotswold hotel in the beautiful Cotswold town of Painswick, everything you think you know about the Cotswolds is here. A great place to stay for location, food and style with all your needs catered for by extremely friendly and helpful staff. I went there to celebrate my 70th birthday, and enjoyed every moment.

Staff are very warm and friendly but service is relaxed and can feel slow if you are used to staff hovering near by. Saying that, we forgot toothpaste and the front desk responded to a call with complementary a dental kit straight away. The rooms are clean and comfortable and in keeping with their green surroundings. The hotel is a good retreat. There are cosy chairs, books, a games room with a pool table, wellies and maps for walking and blankets to sit out on the grounds. The cocktail bar is good and the drinks are refreshing. The restaurant has improved its menu since we last went and the food was delicious. Well worth a visit if you want a quiet night away with good food and drinks.

Beautiful hotel, delicious food and amazing cocktails! We stayed at The Painswick Hotel for a couple of days in one of their Palladian rooms and our stay was perfect. The hotel has a lovely cocktail bar and a large lounge area with a beautiful fire place. Our room was very very spacious and the shower was divine. We ate at the hotel both nights and I have to say that the food was exceptional. A definite must when visiting if the afternoon tea, incredible!!!

What might you plan for an all day wander with friends in high summer? So much choice.... I walked from 5VA, Stroud, with 3 childhood friends on the canal towpath, up the Cotswold Way to Painswick and then back again. So what did we need? A high class stop over at The Painswick Hotel for my favourite Afternoon Tea is what. Winter or Summer it always makes us happy.

Love this hotel, really friendly attentive staff, cosy atmosphere, decorated nicely and surrounded by beautiful scenery. I visited for my husband's birthday and we would definitely go back again. Would very much recommend for a weekend chill out escape 😊

We love Afternoon Tea at The Painswick. It's just fab! Book ahead, we like say 4pm, relax and enjoy great food in delightful surroundings. The veggie version is so tasty too. Photos taken in March, bit chilly but who cares :)

Had afternoon tea, at The Painswick today which was lovely, we had sandwiches, scones with jam & cream, piece of carrot cake & has many bots of tea that you wanted. Staff were all very friendly helpful & looked casual but smart, plus The Painswick gave you that relaxed stressful environment to enjoy your experience which I did.
